Thanks for the links...of course, I had to google earth the place where the bridge is supposed to go, and I have to admit...it didn’t strike me that the bridge was honestly the bridge to nowhere...

The town (which admittedly is even smaller than the town I live in) is in what appears to be a pretty isolated area, but the island they want to connect to is by no means a tiny island as it says in the WP article...I measured it and it is a 22x9 mile island...with the only airport in the region on it. Perhaps they want to be able to drive over to the airport...or maybe in the future they are looking to connect to the nearby peninsula over the water using the island, but unless they are thinking of sinking about 15 Billion and developing new technology, that ain’t gonna happen.

Anyway...I have made up my mind...:)

The sad part is that as much as we like to criticize Robert Byrd (West Virginia) for his pork prowess - Ted Stevens is every bit as bad.
