"I think one thing that I realized, looking back at it and analyzing it, is people are very unforgiving and very resistant to change," Couric told this week's New York magazine.
The public reassessment marks a huge change for America's Sweetheart, who burst on to the stodgy network news scene last year as its first solo female anchor. But as her "CBS Evening News" ratings have plunged and her bosses mull changes to the show, Couric cast herself as a survivor - so far.
"I've gone through a bit of a feeding frenzy and there's blood in the water and I've got some vulnerabilities," she said.

You can actually use a TiVo box sans subscription, but you have to manually program the times and channels to record, like a regular VCR. I have had TiVo for years now and I have no idea how I lived without it!
I feel awful for poor Katie. This is all my fault. I blame myself! All this time I thought she just sucked at the evening news. How could I have been so wrong??!!!!

Ahh that is good to know! I’m currently paying for the TIVO subscription as well as the TIVO-esque box from the cable company for the other tv. Looks like I can save some $ !

Hey Katie...denial isn’t just a river in Egypt.
In April, an infamous Philadelphia Inquirer column by TV writer Gail Shister quoted anonymous CBS staffers predicting her imminent departure from the Evening News because CBS News management had deemed Couric an insurmountable failure. “It’s a disaster,” said one person identified as a veteran correspondent. “Everybody knows it’s not working. CBS may not cut her loose, but I guarantee you, somebody’s thinking about it.”

Advice to Katie.
You cater to about 20% of the American populace. Most of those people are either elderly in nursing homes who do not have a choice what they watch, or people who actually care what you have to say.
Now, if you changed only one thing. Everytime you insult a Republican, change it to a Democrat, change everything negative to everything positive and tell us how great we are doing in Iraq and against the war on terror.
You will keep the elderly, lose the moonbats and pick up about 40-50% more viewership.
