July 8, 2007 -- HAVANA - It's a short distance from the United States but Cuba doesn't know from Rosie/Donald/Barbara and that blond ditz, wouldn't know Paris Hilton from O.J. Simpson and even those few with a satellite dish never mention the Iraq war. By phone a friend from Martha's Vineyard reported excitedly, "Jake Gyllenhaal's here. I just saw him sitting on his mother's porch." Share this with your guide and it's Jake Who? There's only one lone pop-culture name everybody knows and that's Michael Moore, whose "Sicko" was filmed partly in their Hospital Ameijeiras. Cuba lives in yesterday.

Be sure to look at the photos of the old beautiful buildings in Havana, and how the intrastructure of the city is in ruins.
Well, didn’t you know???
Poor people in Communist countries are happier than poor people in capitalist countries. It is a known fact. /sarc
So let me get this straight.
An American Democratic Party Congressman assists a foolish old liberal in getting a visa to a country that is against Federal Law to visit legally and I am supposed to think this is wonderful?
Can our friend Charlie be charged with a crime or are Congressmen who are members of the Democratic Party above the law?
Well...of course they are. Silly me. Never mind!
Well actually, anyone in a third world country is happier. All that nasty capitalism makes people mean and selfish.
No flush toilets puts people in touch with the environment, and is so eco-friendly.
One of the things that make me angriest is when I hear people talk about purchasing carbon credits. In essence, they are paying the more well off to keep people living in undeveloped poverty. I do NOT support companies who say they are “carbon neutral” They are in effect exploiting the poor.
