Rare doesn't mean can't. Since there is no cure for AIDS, I don't think I'll take a chance of exposing myself to it.
The odds of you getting HIV from an HIV+ person after being scratched, bitten or bled on are extremely small -- and that's assuming that the kids are HIV+.
You take that chance yourself then.
I’m not sure you can pick up an aids virus in the pool,but I have read storys where the children did have loose stools in the pool and made others sick. I guess it would depend on how much chlorine was being used.
How long does it usually take for the virus to manifest itself?
Do you think that five years from now a parent could put two and two together with a swim in a pool?

It's never happened. Not once. Again, you could let your two year old play in a wading pool full of HIV+ blood (I'm not saying this is a good idea) and even then the risk of your kid getting HIV would be miniscule -- but that's not what we're talking about.
Your kid is infinitely more likely to get HIV from a hypodermic needle let by some junkie on the playground than from some other kid's skinned knee.
I hate to say it, but this is just hysteria. Your kid is not at risk.
Find me someone who has contracted HIV from a restaurant, a swimming pool, a toilet seat, or even French kissing an infected person. It's never happened.
I agree, I haven’t been in a public pool or hot tub in years. I am even careful in a hotel and I only take showers not sit down baths.
Oonly tiny numbers of HIV viruses are found in saliva (compared to vast numbers in other fluids). Not one person has ever been shown to have been infected by saliva or tears.
Since there is no cure for AIDS, I don't think I'll take a chance of exposing myself to it.
Nobody has ever contracted HIV from kissing anybody, and that includes people in long term romantic relationships with HIV+ people. And you're worried about getting infected from being spat on?
It may or may not - neither you nor I would know unless we're scientifically oriented, and out of the PC system.
I will post here what my dentist told me, though: The virus can live overnight on a tabletop at room temperature....given a little imagination, the fear is understandable.

My guess is that if a two year old bites you at the pool, you're a lot more likely to die of sepsis or tetanus than you are of AIDS. Maybe somebody should pass a law against rabid two year olds.

Specious -- Typhoid Mary's victims were all people who'd eaten food prepared by her. We have not seen any clusters of people who have had no obvious way of contracting HIV other than by swimming or eating near an HIV+ person.

Anyway, I'm not sure I get your point -- are you saying that HIV is transmissable through saliva because some random guy on the street might be mistaken in thinking it is? It's never happened. If it could have happened, it would have happened by now.

A person has a much greater chance of getting hit by “dry lightening” while in a pool than they do contracting HIV.
So therefore, no one should go swimming when there is a cloudless sky.
