Yes, I read their website. If you and Boortz are saying that this is primarily about it being simple, but not cheaper, do you really struggle that much to understand the current system? And, is Boortz so naiive to think that some kind of collection agency won’t be needed to police the sales tax payers?

Tell you what. I can explain the entire concept of HR25 in a couple of sentences. Can you do that with the current tax code? No.

This is one of the most shockingly dumb statements I’ve heard on this board. My tax return along with supporting documents was about 2 inches thick last year and it cost me $2,000 to have my accountant put it together. So yes, since I have to hire a professional, I do struggle to understand the current system.

The Fair Tax will use the existing infrastructure. The sales tax will be administered by the existing Department Of The Treasury. The collection agencies will be the businesses. They will collect at the point of sale. Fair Tax FAQ #10 Businesses will receive a fee of .25% for collecting the tax. It will not be a burden for businesses to collect the tax as forty five states already have a state sales tax Fair Tax FAQ #45. They will pass the tax onto the state taxing authority, who will pass it onto the U.S. Treasury.
