Tour de France ping!
Please FReepmail 'Aeronaut' if you want on or off the Tour de France 2007 list.
Sorry, that is streaming coverage at their website. TV coverage begins at 8:00 AM EDT.
please unping me.
Checking in. Did I miss anything?
David Millar has been out collecting time bonuses. He has gained back 0:12 on Cancellara so far. Millar will need to finish in a break more than 0:21 ahead of the yellow jersey, or pick up a time bonus finishing in the top 3 and a smaller time gap.
Either way, Millar could score the KOM jersey today, so there is a consolation prize even if he can’t get yellow.
Meanwhile, if Boonen wants yellow tomorrow in Belgium, it will be helpful if he finishes in the top 3 of a bunch sprint for the stage win today, and then some intermediate bonus seconds and another stage win tomorrow, because he is 0:46 down.
Right now things appear to be steady.
Pinging on for today’s ride.
FYI..NY Times sports section has some very good coverage on their website..lots of interactive media...and some interesting commentary..you might find it worth while checking out..
Do you know the story of the Tour starting in London this year? Does the city change every summer?
Attack!
NO..I’d a very casual fan..I didn’t even realize it, until you pointed it out...(g) Maybe the French were expecting more “car burnings” so they needed an alternative vbenue?
The TDF owners (ASO) choose a different city each year. One year, it was Dublin. Last year, it was Strasbourg. In the 100th anniversary of the Tour, the race also actually started in Paris (and ended, because it always does).
There are rumors that the future Grand Departs will be places like Monte Carlo in Monaco and Amsterdam in Holland.
Thanks
I don’t think the web coverage is a good at it was last year. I can’t find anything saying who is in the lead group.

[from the AFP ticker Ken5050 linked us to via the NYT] I think Bichot's out front right now.
Aleksandr Kuschynski - 1st
Freddy Bichot - 2nd
Andriy Grivko -3rd
Oops. Left off those were the results of the sprint in Tenterden (at the 140.5km mark).
Peloton is making steady progress against the leaders.
Watching another story on Levi Leipheimer now. He seem to get such special treatment. The one commentator was talking about him winning the race. Seems strange to me.
Ouch, that one guy could have broken his leg against that yellow barrier.
