So, do we really have to go down this road by bashing [Fred] since it so counterproductive to the greater Conservative cause in 2008.

Do these conciliatory comments also apply to Rudy?

You know, I thought it was one of the fundamental traits of conservatism to look at the individual's merits and not just put everyone into a box and judge them based on the box (like liberals do)....

If anyone wishes to see irrational hostility, just make a positive statement about Rudy and then watch the DU-like responses fly. Civility isn't a strong suit among some here on the FR.
