I agree. He’s never been a pro-choice advocate, a la Rudy and Mitt. But he has become more solidly pro-life now. And that is a good thing.
I’d say Thompson’s comments are remarkably like Romney’s who also seemed to approach it from a libertarian point of view saying he wasn’t convinced it was an area that government had a right to regulate. Of course Fred is allowed to make such a comment and Romney is not.
The abortion question is so contentious and human that we might as well assume that there will not be total agreement on it in our lifetimes. The next best thing is to send it back to the states, where it belongs, and take all Federal meddling -- including our tax dollars to carry out the dirty deeds -- out of the picture.
