“A nation that does not honor it’s warriors will be defeated by one that does”
i never thought halberstam was all he was cracked up to be by the liberal media.
he’s the epitome of the leftists of the 1960’s who placed their arrogance before the country.
Good article.
The only Seabee to be awarded the Medal of Honor.
The Seabee Camp at Hill 421, outside DaNang, RVN was named after Marvin.
I simply hope to live long enough... to water down the graves of all three!
Well, cinch down and save a little... for old Dan Rather. He looks half in the crypt nowadays!
Halberstam’s death got extra attention because he was killed in a collision resulting from an illegal left turn by his driver, a UC Berkeley journalism student with a history of driving violations.
“Like many journalists today, they avoided reporting on American military
heroism in the belief that reports of American valor would increase support
for the war in the United States and would put servicemen in a more
favorable light than those who did not serve.”
Here’s a bit of antidote for that sort of agenda-driven reportage.
I can only think that the slanted reporting by guys like Halberstam and
the agendas of his fellow-travelers in Hollyweird is why the names of
guys like “Bud Day” aren’t household names.
(Fair Warning...don’t get “American Patriot” until you a free day.
Once started, it’s hard to put down.)
American Patriot: The Life and Wars of Colonel Bud Day
by Robert Coram
If not for a documentary on Medal of Honor winners...I’d never have
heard of the book (link below).
Of course, don’t expect Hollywood to produce a movie based on this story.
Because in this one, as far as Hollywood is concerned, the good guys
(Communists) were defeated.
