Sorry for the late reply, I posted the message about 3:30 CDT on Friday and I don't know why it took so long to make it on the message board. Maybe because it was my first post.By the time it was up, I was away from the computer for the weekend. Anyway, I thought 12 might have been Dave Marcus and 13 Freddy Lorenzen but Dave did not win the 500.This is terrible to say, but I thought Pete Hamilton passed away, always glad to be corrected on something like that.Really, I still don't know #17, he does not look like Flash.I was kidding with you on Junebug, though ;) I do have business that sometimes takes me to N. Carolina, but like a lot of the regulars here I'm in Texas.

Yep. It will be the first COT race with restrictor plates run.
Now if they really want to spice it up, they’ll repave the track, change the tire compound at the last minute, introduce a new shock package, and qualifying and practice will be rained out :o)

NASCAR is investigating an incident where Craftsman Truck Series driver Aaron Fike was arrested over the weekend on charges for possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia while at Kings Island, an amusement park in Ohio.Link

I just happened to catch that live this morning, it really was funny and I give him kudos for being a good sport.
But yes a penalty is in order for not having the right parts working properly. lol
I loved that he apologized to Ingrid.

awwww , well , although I’m not a booster for Flash ,...
I think he’s earned that little bit of time to “not think about racing”
( and I can imagine his mind , like , OMG! ,.. “that BOOTIE Thang is gettin’ a mite too close!” )
but he handled it well , .. er , I mean , well , sheeeesh!

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Remember when you were a kid and the bully down the street tried to bump your bike from behind? How he wound up going over the handle bars and then blamed you for bloodying his elbows and knees?
It happened on lap 15 of Saturday night’s Nextel Cup race at Daytona International Speedway, only with cars going 200 mph and between drivers that work out of the same garage.
Denny Hamlin was leading the race going into Turn 4 of the 2.5-mile track when Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Tony Stewart bumped him from behind in what NASCAR calls the no-bump zone.
Hamlin almost saved his car, and then Stewart bumped him again to start a multi-car wreck that sent both to the garage.
Next thing you know, Stewart is on television blaming Hamlin for the accident.

NASCAR calls the no-bump zoneWondered if this was ever going to come up.

I just heard on Fox that the plane involved in the crash near Orlando may have been registered to Daytona Speedway...
