A NATION OF LAWS; REVIVING THE 'MELTING POT'(The safety of the republic is at stake)
NY POST ^ | July 4, 2007 | MICHELLE MALKIN

Posted on 07/04/2007 3:16:45 AM PDT by Liz

AMNESTY is dead. Now, let's talk about the other "A" word. It's the word and the concept completely abandoned during the immigration debate: assimilation.........if the open-borders advocates would actually read American history instead of revising it, they would see that the Founding Fathers were emphatically insistent on protecting the country against indiscriminate mass immigration.

* George Washington, in a letter to John Adams, stated that immigrants should be absorbed into American life so that "by an intermixture with our people, they, or their descendants, get assimilated to our customs, measures, laws: in a word soon become one people."

* The survival of the American republic, Hamilton maintained, depends upon "the preservation of a national spirit and a national character." "To admit foreigners indiscriminately to the rights of citizens the moment they put foot in our country would be nothing less than to admit the Grecian horse into the citadel of our liberty and sovereignty."

The demise of amnesty means government the Founders handed down to us, to preserve and maintain---government OF, BY, and FOR the people---prevailed.

As FReeper nyyankeefan wisely wrote: "it is a wonderous thing that the People of the US have spoken clearly and that the People were able to save the nation when the the supposed representatives of the people were ready to surrender to the illegal invading hordes and destroy the nation."

A joyous July Fourth to all.............and may it ever remain so.

"Assimilation" is a dirty word to some. Near where I am typing this is a storefront office about "preserving the indigenous peoples of the world" or something--all of the signage is about "retaining our culture". It's all tiptoing around the hatred for the idea of assimilation into the US culture.

Of course, none of the people working there would recognize the irony that they could only open such a place in the USA.

If you don't want to be an American, don't live here. I'm the grandson of four Irish immigrants, and neither they nor I ever identified ourselves as hyphenates.

Not everybody who immigrates to America is assimilated, you know. Of all the millions who streamed through Ellis Island and other ports of entry to this country, a sizable portion could not, or would not, adopt the ways of their new country, and returned to their former home.

The glaring fault of the “amnesty” bill so recently shot down in the US Senate, is ASSUMING these migrants who came for economic reasons alone, were looking for, or even wanted, US citizenship. I would not wish the burdens of citizenship upon ANY person who did not also understand and welcome the commitment and responsibility that come with the conferring of that anointment.

You got that right. "Hyphenated supremacists" demonstrate a visceral hatred for all that is distinctly American.

NOW HERE'S A COUPLE DISCOURAGING WORDS: Illegal border-crossers arrogantly assumed they were in control of OUR government, that they would prevail, and that they and their hyphenated groups would takeover OUR country.

Burying amnesty wiped the smiles off the faces of the grinning invaders. These hyphenates dare to tell us how to run OUR country. They dare to violate our country’s borders, laws, and national security, then demand US taxpayers subsidize their every need.

These treacherous illegal invaders are here solely to undermne the US---economically, socially and politically.

Americans have had it with "hyphenated-supremacists" who get more rights than taxpayers. We are being suckered into footing the bills for hyphenated jerks with no self-esteem.

American taxpayers are sick and tired of being pawns for hyphenates with self-esteem problems. The con game involves money-hungry types with a grudge against humanity. They hyphenate their origins, and become “voting blocs” for pandering politicians. The hyphenates bleed American taxpayers dry for one idiotic scheme after another.

It's high time we send these hyphenated parasites back where they came from. The corrupt Mexican gov't should mind their own business and stick to policing their southern border. Hyphenates from Mexico, Central America, and beyond, better stop invading us...........or else.

If you do not want to be an American... or you are not working for an Embassy etc... get out! America needs to put away the childish nightmare of PC and get back to the flow that our greatness was gifted from. On bended knee I praise GOD that I was born in the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave... even if we do allow slimy and evil dims to live among us!

GOD BLESS our TROOPS and GOD BLESS and KEEP AMERICA SAFE!

"it is a wonderous thing that the People of the US have spoken clearly and that the People were able to save the nation when the the supposed representatives of the people were ready to surrender

And no matter how we might feel about the results today, we (the people) have been able to successfully marshall the spirit of conservative opposition in November 2000; in 2006 by supporting the Swifties; on the Harriet Myers issue; on Shamnesty 2006 and 2007; and many smaller but still important issues.

It's actually worse than just a matter of non-assimilation. Many immigrants bothvlegal and illegal have come into the US and actually taken over.

Due to our weak legal system and feel good liberals running way too many areas, we are prime take over targets and its happening almost everywhere.

Instead of having a small amount of controlled immigration where new immigrants to the country melt into the population and a generation or two later we are all Americans asinthepast history of the US, govts. both local and Federal have allowed groups of immigrants both legal and illegal to come in and recreate their countries here on US soil. It's insane!

Few other countries do that! It's uncalled for and needs to be stemmed immediately or we simply won't have a US any more.

On the last Census form we received they asked us to please check off our ethnic backgrounds. It was quite a long list. I took a black marker pen and crossed them all out and wrote in “American”.
