GAZA (Reuters) - Alan Johnston, the BBC journalist held hostage in Gaza, was freed and handed over to Palestinian officials early on Wednesday after a late-night deal with the al Qaeda-inspired, clan-based group that kidnapped him in March.
"It is just the most fantastic thing to be free," he told the BBC live by telephone from the home of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. "(But it had been) at times quite terrifying."

Did he convert or pay the jizya?
Nothing but ill-gotten Muslim “good-will” to the British, three days after trying to kill hundreds with those car bombs.
Accomplice - not hostage.
He is a pro-terrorist BBC presstitute/urinalist.
They probably had a gay romp on the American flag the whole time, and finished with a nice bit of tea. Screw the BBC.
Great. He has probably joined the british journalist’s anti-israel boycott by now...
Of course BBC paid a heavy ransom to get the reporter freed. The terrorists will never learn. That is one reason why they are 2000 years behind the times.
The only outlet they have to get their message of Jihad out is by the western news agencies.
“BBC loves the muzzie terrorists, this guy was probably treated like gold.”
They strapped bombs to his body.
He is safe. If they wanted to harm him they would have. I’m glad he was released unharmed, but I can’t say it was an unexpected result.
