“Islamophobic attitudes.”
After a long time of simply putting up with it, it may be time to set the nomenclature straight! Phobic denotes fear. There is no fear here of Islam nor of Islamofascists. Nor is there fear of gays (homophobia). Since when did it become a phobia, a fear, to dislike or to distance oneself from any group? And while we’re at it, when the heck will someone use “tragic” and “ironic” as they were intended to be used? Today, every sad or unhappy event is “tragic.” Every mere coincidence is “ironic.” Enough already! Send broadcasters back to school!
irony =
Elton john having a hit song: “The Circle of Life”
is being unable to find a Wall Street Journal at a newsstand on Wall Street ironic?
