I don’t like listening to him! Just something about his pitch, his delivery, his mannerisms,,,he’s got a good message but it’s hard to concentrate with all the other crap going on,,,,,,,,,,get off the phone you big dope,,,,bla bla bla.............and,,,,yes, the “shouting”, very strange!
Could be some ego, after all, Savage’s name was mentioned in many articles regarding the killing of the bill.
As well, Dobbs played a clip of Mike on his show a couple of weeks ago (when Mike was on holidays) and I think Levin took a shot at Mike that day.
Is it me or is Mike in a good mood today?
Was Morticia there??? LOL! What about cousin IT?
SAVAGE said the OC he took yesterday is kicking in today!
heehee..that was easy!
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DO NOT READ FREEPMAIL,,,,,THERE WILL NOT BE A SAVAGE THREAD ON WEDNESDAYS ANYMORE,,,,,SAVAGE IS A NO SHOW 99.9 PERCENT OF THE TIME, HOWEVER, IF FOR SOME REASON YOU DISCOVER THAT SAVAGE IS LIVE, PLEASE, FEEL FREE TO POST A THREAD AND PING THE REST OF US, YOU CAN FIND THE PING LIST ON MY FREEP PAGE............
Is this you on the line?
LOL! NOT I!
He only misses about one Wedn. per month, not counting holidays.
It’s summer and last year he was a no show most Wednesdays.
Ha, ha. Must have liked something about your tone. I notice some people will get by with things that others won't. Usually he's pretty respectful to older sounding people too. I often think about the poor people that call him up, they are fans, they try to compliment him, and he berates them. I know you wouldn't be bothered by it, but I wonder if some people don't listen to him anymore because of the way he treated them on the phone.
Its ok to ask Dennis how he is and thank him for the show, by the way!
Oh yes, you can say just about anything to Dennis--he doesn't mind.
The only time I called a show was Michael Medved. It was right after the 2000 election. I can't even remember the specific topic, but it was something about were there more Repubs or more Dems. The call screener--think it was Darth Sitman back then, asked me what I wanted to talk about out. I was already nervous. It was the first time I had ever called in to any show. I told him I wanted to speak about the topic of the hour. He asked me again, "What do you want to talk about?" I told him, "What Michael is speaking about." He got really irritated at me. Finally I figured out he wanted me to say to him exactly what I was going to say to Medved. I had made notes, so I just read those off and he put me on hold to speak to Michael. I felt like I had already screwed up so by the time I spoke with Medved I was really nervous. Medved didn't keep me on very long--ha, ha--and I've never called a radio station since.
I send e-mails to Prager especially and a few to Medved. A couple of times, maybe more since I do miss some Prager shows, he has actually brought up topics/stories/websites that I have sent to him.
I don't like that either.
I ask everyone how they are doing, it’s part of my speech pattern. In person it always comes across naturally and nice, but on the phone it throws people off. Like I call up customer service for a credit card and the rep answers, ‘hello I am Riana at Fleet, how may I help?” and I always say “Riana, how are you doing today?” They never see it coming and it always throws them off!
I never called Medved, but I’d like to. Honestly I have only called into shows 4 times - twice for Savage and got through, twice for Prager and the 2nd time Ava didn’t let me on. That irritated me since about 15 minutes later someone called with the same point I had made! Maybe they were ahead of me on the line, I dunno.
My 2nd call to Savage was very good - it helped that I made a list of bullets to discuss. My call to Dennis was great - maybe 2 years ago, and I was on maybe 3 minutes. Very nice man, really the best! It was about confiding in people or something, and I called in and said sometimes people who I don’t know very well confide in me and it get weird to me. Dennis said he understood and that it would be to my enormous credit that people would feel closer to me than I feel to them, and that they must appreciate my wisdom and insight. Very nice. He then said he had an intuition that I wasn’t married, which I wasn’t. I asked why he would say that and he said he didn’t know, and segued to a book eh would feature next week called ‘Blink.’ Weird, huh?
I think that ‘get off my phone you big dope’ is a homage to NY^C Metro area talk radio icon Bob Grant, who would now and then kick callers off the air with a pronounced ‘Get offfff my fffffffone!”
It usually helps with homages when more than 1 in 100,000 listeners make the connection, though. :-)
Yeah I remember you telling me that sometime back--you told me long after the show had aired and it was odd because I had actually remembered that call. What's your guess about how he knew you weren't married? I've heard him say that to other people as well.
Yeah, I guess so :)
I like today when Savage said about Hannity's schtick--"No you're a grating American!" I'm still laughing about that.
Yea I think it was a good call. As for his guess, maybe just a genuine intuition. Whatever it was, I don;t think it was a bad mental connection he made. I never thought about it till now, though I did ask him why at the time.
Maybe he figured a guy without a bride may have more room on his emotional plate that people connect with me more than average? I suspect keeping a galpal happy is probably about 66% of the hassle of keeping a wife happy, what do you all think? Hahaha :-)
Savage is awesome with those sardonic, acerbic shots he takes at his peers and with news figures. VERY FUNNY!
I'll probably see you around FR. If not, have a great 4th.
