I think a VP candidate for Hunter would probably need to carry some weight in blue states, have high name recognition, and be in as much agreement as possible on the issues Hunter makes a big deal about: Life, Illegal immigration, Arsenal of Democracy, lower taxes, Fair Trade, WOT, etc.
I’m not sure Mike Pence nor JC Watts have the name recognition edge compared to Ann Coulter/Condi Rice/James Dobson.
How about Chuck Yeager? He’s already on board the campaign.
Chuck Yeager would be a good choice.
Whoever it is needs to be young enough to ride the coat tails for 16 years of CONSERVATIVE republican influence...although a Zell Miller democrat would certainly throw the LIEberals in a tizzy and would make for GREAT enterainment!
How about Duncan Hunter/Michael Steele.
You’re welcome. And please don’t think that today’s poll #’s are frozen in time. A look back..........
“CBS News Poll, December 14-16, 2003
Dean - 23%
Clark - 10%
Lieberman - 10%
Gephardt - 6%
Sharpton - 5%
Kerry - 4%
Edwards - 2%
Al Sharpton was beating John Kerry in the national polls. Al Sharpton. The day before the Iowa caucuses, CBS released another national primary poll where John Kerry managed to climb into 4th place nationally with a whopping 7% of the vote.”

FIGHT for Duncan Hunter for the good of our great country.
I think you have had the best idea by far, thus far. Condi Rice? Nuh uh, there is very little to know about her. But then, that hasn’t stopped a lot of candidates for the nomination from polling well. Lynn Swann, Sen. Jim Bunning, Elizabeth Dole, Kay Bailey H., Michael Reagan and one of my really different picks, since we do love us some actors, let’s choose a good one, Gary Sinise.

Thanks, WC.
Very interesting post...thanks.
Being a general is a kind of executive experience.
Richard Nixon was governor of California. That's an executive position.
Of all the declared candidates and Thompson, I think only T. Thompson and Richardson have gubernatorial experience, and one has no chin and the other's a Clinton buttboy.
On the Republican side, you're forgetting Governor Gilmore, Governor Romney, and Governor Huckabee. Even Rudy Giuliani's experience as mayor of NYC is more relevant as executive experience than time spent in Congress.
Informed voters know that the presidency is an executive office. The skills needed to be an effective legislator are different from the skills needed to be an effective executive. Some people have both sets of skills, but executive experience is the best measure of whether someone has those skills. Maybe our country doesn't have enough informed voters for the issue to matter any longer, but having a good executive is important.
Gerald Ford's being appointed to the vice-presidency is irrelevant. That situation was unusual, and Gerald Ford wasn't a particularly effective president.
Bill
“Condi Rice?????”
Didn’t she follow Bush’s lead, calling the Minutemen “vigilantes”?
“Why waste your vote? Rep. Paul is a decent man, but the 2008 vote should go far beyond party to who is CLEARLY the best candidate for our next Commander in Chief, Duncan Hunter, who DOES have a chance of winning IF Americans wake up in time.
He was just now on CNN discussing his solid strategy plan for Iraq in his typically succinct and informative manner.
Money and Media are NOT everything IF we, in spite of those factions, vote for what is TRULY in the best interest of the survival of our beloved country. There is no more experienced and knowledgeable man running, or not yet running, than Rep. Duncan Hunter.”
Well said, I couldn’t agree more.
From Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Governor_of_California
One future President of the United States and former Vice President failed to be elected governor:
Richard Nixon in 1962
I like that combo, a lot!
Duncan Hunter/Michael Steele 2008!
Minutemen - doing the job the gov’t won’t get the BP do.
Hunter-Thompson? Oil and water.
Thompson = strong on ego, likes to dance no matter who plays the music, wants the starring roll.
Hunter = strong on experience, cuts to the chase, and a dedicated dynamo to boot.
Hunter-Huckabee, maybe. Hunter-Hyde, ideally. Hunter-Rice, never!
Pissant:
This topic brings up a lot of interesting discussion. Too bad the question didn’t make it into the top 25 to be considered by Duncan Hunter...
