Berger must perform 100 hours of community service and pay the fine as well as $6,905 for the administrative costs of his two-year probation, a district court judge ruled.>p> "I deeply regret the actions that I took at the National Archives two years ago, and I accept the judgment of the court," Berger said outside the courthouse after his sentencing.

Hmmm. What about coughing up the documents you stole? And coming clean about why you stole them (i.e. - who are you protecting?)? Hmmmm????????

So Burger pay $50K for actually doing something wrong, something aggravated by the fact that it probably conceals other wrongdoing, and Libby pays $250K and get 30 months for having an incomplete recollection. Yeah, Begala, I’d say there’s a double standard.

When the director of the National Archives found out that Berger was being investigated by the FBI for stealing classified documents, the director’s first call went to.... Bruce Lindsey.

That National Archives director was subsequently fired, but many suspect that before he left he likely destroyed the originals at Lindsey’s request.

Of course. Slick can make $50,000 in 5 minutes making a speech before a group of morons.
