Like the article, I was talking about our federal government. Each state has reverted to whatever type of government they want to be. Michigan is a state, Virginia is a commonwealth, and The District of Columbia is a fiefdom.

The occupants of the White House and the Capitol are frauds. They should be voted out and replaced.

Dubya has stood up to the globalists on global warming, 2A, the WOT, and, especially, thank God, the courts. And never once did he fail to say in any election that guest workers were something he supported to address the problem with dealing with those who ignore our borders.
Now, I'm very glad that bill was killed but for the paranoid among us it was designed to address a problem Bush didn't create, and who has probably made things better.
Have we really forgotten how Slick pushed through citizenship for dubious immigrants to make them eligible to vote in certain elections?

As late as 2004, here is what he was saying:

Bush also stressed the need for greater workplace enforcement, which the business community staunchly opposes.
"Listen, there's a lot of opinions on this proposal. I understand that. But people in this debate must recognize that we will not be able to effectively enforce our immigration laws until we create a temporary-worker program."

Maybe you weren’t clear on his stance. But others here were. I didn’t agree with him in on immigration in 1999, 2000, 2004, or now. It almost kept me from voting for him in 2000. But I’m glad I did.

So, you acknowledge from my post that he railed on amnesty, said he would beef up enforcement of the border, be tough on businesses hiring illegals.... but you think that I wasn't clear?

Never said I wasn’t clear.
Face the facts. President Bush either
a) did a 180 degree ideological change since the election or
b) was blatantly lying to the general public about his immigration stance.
While some may have been skeptical of him at the time, that does change the fact that the message he sent
was that he would be tough on immigration, the border, and enforcement.
He did NOT present anything to suggest the President Bush we see today.
I’m sorry you weren’t paying attention years ago and now seem to regret voting for him.
Give me the sourced quotes that demonstrate he was pro-amnesty pre-2000 or pre-2004, that he wanted to provide a “path to citizenship” for 12-20 million illegal aliens. I already gave you links to sourced quotes proving otherwise.

1988 Republican convention: When George Walker Bush introduced his running mate, Dan Quayle, he was pointing out his family and said, "that little brown skinned one over there is one of my grandkids." In other words, GWB has a Latino sister-in-law. It's only hard for someone who can't master the obvious where the Bush family stands on this issue.
