Not only did he come in first, but his turkey triple chin came in second and third!

(He looks like Bob Dole, but with a better right uppercut.)

“I’m just sticking to the facts here. But you seem to be in the realm of wild speculation.”

Your “facts” are still opinion and actually wishful thinking based on flawed data and a fanciful spin of it.

My so-called “wild speculation” is actually well reasoned and logical. However, only time will tell. I have been wrong before, and I don’t particularily have any axe to grind or emotional stake in this matter. I’m not a “Fred Head” and support him only because he is, of the viable candidates, the only thing close to my viewpoints: Pro-life, 2nd Ammendment advocate, and generally socially conservative.

I think Hunter and Huckabee are fine candidates, but I know they cannot win in a general election. I respect their supporters, but wish they would be more realistic.

I really don’t know much about T. Thompson except he once worked for President Bush. I don’t remember if he left under favorable conditions. However, the fact that I don’t know much about him would show he is not electable.

I'm not the one bringing out donkey graphics to mock a conservative (moreso than Rudy McRomney at the least) candidate who won a straw poll.

Tommy had his chance & he didn't seize the initiative in 2000. He was probably the most powerful Republican then, having served 3 terms. 3 fricking terms and the guy still didn't get the hint to go onto something bigger. Well, aw shucks I'll just take another stab at being Governor. The guy's a loser now, plain and simple.

I just love how people who should have ran when they had the chance are all of a sudden doing it now *cough* Hunter *cough*. They need to take Eminem's advice and lose themselves in the moment before it passes them by.

Now... looking at real numbers rather than straw polls... Strategic Vision has:

Below are the results of a three-day poll in the state of Iowa. Results are based on telephone interviews with 600 likely Republican cacus goers and 600 likely Democratic cacus goers, aged 18+, and conducted June 22-24, 2007. The margin of sampling error is ±4 percentage points.

1. If the 2008 Republican presidential caucus were held today between Sam Brownback, Jim Gilmore, Newt Gingrich, Rudy Giuliani, Chuck Hagel, Mike Huckabee, Duncan Hunter, John McCain, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney, Tom Tancredo, Fred Thompson, and Tommy Thompson for whom would you vote? (Republicans Only; Names Rotated)

Mitt Romney 23%
Fred Thompson 17%
Rudy Giuliani 14%
John McCain 10%
Tommy Thompson 6%
Mike Huckabee 5%
Newt Gingrich 4%
Sam Brownback 3%
Ron Paul 2%
Tom Tancredo 2%
Duncan Hunter 1%
Jim Gilmore 1%
Chuck Hagel 1%
Undecided 11%

According to your "real numbers", Tommy is the TOP polling "2nd tier" candidate, within striking distance of McCain and Romney. As someone little known outside of Wisconsin, he outpolls the nationally known Newt Gingrinch and Sam Brownback. That actually makes me very optimistic. As McCain continues to implode, Tommy has a good shot at moving into the top four, according to that poll. And with Giuliani, McCain (knowing they will fare poorly with the conservative grassroots) planning to skip the Ames Iowa poll, along with Fred "one of these days I'll get in the race" Thompson, that means the only real contentors for Ames will be Mitt Romney, Tommy Thompson, and Mike Huckabee. Once conservatives look at their "records", I know which candidate clearly has the best track record.

We'll see who's still laughing about Tommy's chances in Ames when the actual vote comes around. I hope the arrogant "Tommy won't win" people continue to write him off. Ted Kennedy's fans did the same thing to Jimmy Carter in '75.
