Waving American flags and chanting "U.S.A., U.S.A.," protestors angry about the imprisonment of two U.S. Border Patrol agents rallied Saturday, demanding the release of the men and calling for the dismissal of the prosecutor who handled the case.

From the article:
With a small group of immigrant rights supporters posted across the street, much of the two-hour rally was tense and fraught with racial undertones.
I believe Ramos and Campean are both Hispanic so please don't go there! This is NOT a fight against Hispanic people!

To add to your excerpt, "In front of him, activists hoisted signs that read, "Texas is not a Mexican colony" while counter-protestors shouted "Viva La Raza.""
Perhaps those are the "racial undertones" that the author is refering to... Somehow I doubt it.

The legacy of The Great Society -
Everything gets twisted into a racial issue.
Even The Beltway Boys were agreeing with Juan Williams that the grass roots uprising against the Shamnesty bill was really rooted in racism against Latinos.
I am fed up with people who will not debate an issue on its merits but jump to play that type of dishonest race card.
I call it ‘’The Geraldo Rivera Ploy’’.
Now days I just turn the channel - I can’t afford to shoot any more TV’s.

We get the San Antonio stations and the grassroots protestors looked clean, respectful and spoke well, lots of beautiful US flags flying, looked great. They’re after US Atty Johnny Sutton, who prosecuted the BPs and Edwards Cty deputy, railroading them in jail.
Another elected official who is ignoring this is our President, US Attys work at his will and the facts are there, Sutton needs to go for the good of all of us.

I would be there if I lived closer to it ,for sure . I drove a few hundred miles to protest with the truckers, but it didn’t do us any good, because the State Capital police were giving tickets and threatening arrests to the few truckers who blocked traffic or got off downtown ramps . We aren’t allowed the same rights illegal criminals have .
If we don’t get out in numbers in the streets, we will go out in coffins if there's enough of us left to bury the dead .We think that Sudan.Darfur can’t happen to us .
When agents on the Canadian Border’s radiation pagers went off, they were told not to go after the van ,which had two middle eastern looking men in it . Something very strange going on in our nation now . We better find out what .

Sutton is another Nifong. He is going with a vengeance against innocent men. Is somebody paying him off? I wonder if he enjoys a lifestyle beyond his income.

Been wondering that myself for a looooong time....

"I believe Ramos and Campean are both Hispanic so please don't go there! This is NOT a fight against Hispanic people!" Agreed. To most people involved in this issue it has nothing to do with being hispanic, but with being mexican.

You’re tellin’ me! The country seems to be in total denial except of course, folks like us and the loyal American grassroots that are basically ignored by all media, except when it manifests itself in mega-storms to CongressCritters over immigration. But these other issues (Border, renegade prosecutors, terrorists organizing and becoming bolder) are “non-issues”.

Nothing to do with skin color, it’s strictly about the law, and the intelligence to interpet it. I still believe Ramos over some POS mexican drug associate. Ramos was up for the border agent of the year, so let’s take a serious look at Nifong’s buddy, Sutton. There is an innocent group in jail for defending America’s border, the message from the Jorge Boosh administration is pretty clear....

I am very saddened by this complacency of the citizens .

"Nothing to do with skin color, its strictly about the law," But didn't the agents get a trial and were found guilty by a jury? I thought that is what "the law" is all about?

"The country seems to be in total denial except of course, folks like us..." Maybe some people thought the agents were guilty of shooting an unarmed man in the back.

Sounds pretty hollow to me...if it wasn't hollow, why would Dana Rohrabacher, and Duncan Hunter, need to have a congressional inquiry?
The whole case stinks from the ground up. Jorge and jerkoff chertoff are both "deeply saddened because the amnsty/shamnesty bill failed miserably. Gonzales could have moved to keep them from going to prison, but he's just a water boy for the administration who fails to act on the border. An administration who yammers on about borders in the ME, but leaves our southern access open to all...including AQ. just because all 19 of the hijackers on 9/11 didn't happen to enter America through the mexican border doesn't mean others that mean us harm , don't come that way. had one of the 9/11 hijackers came that way, we'd have a double wall built with 30,000 volts applied to it already!
I thought that is what "the law" is all about?
The spirit of the law is in doing the right thing, this whole issue leaves a sour taste in my mouth when I see who all the players are, and how they take the word of a drug trafficker over our own, or that the drug trafficker knew a border guard is some serious implication as to something stinks.
It took a while over in North Carolina to dig the truth out, Sutton could be the next nifong.

Sutton has the support of George Bush. That’s where the problem lies.
