The corporatist wing of the GOP wants a long, drawn out process. They think they can outlast the grassroots conservative opposition against their fair-haired boys such as Rudy and McCain - just as they thought that resurrecting shamnesty would outlast us as well.
They thunk wrong. And now we smell blood in the water.
