Ron Paul on Immigration and Iowa

Ron Paul on Immigration and Iowa
Congressman Ron Paul

From time to time, I’m going to send you my thoughts during this campaign. Your support is so important to me, and I want you to know what’s happening.

Today, we had good news from the US Senate — not exactly a normal occurrence — when the president’s immigration bill went down in flames.

Here we had a vastly expensive piece of legislation that would have made the immigration problem worse, and put more controls on the economy. So naturally, the entire establishment was behind it. It was a slam-dunk, or so they thought. Then the American people got riled up, and despite all the special interests, the pressure, the media, and the money, scared the politicians enough to vote the right way.

If our campaign succeeds, this will happen on a whole range of issues. The politicians will hear from the people on foreign wars, high taxes, Fed inflation, and all the other plagues visited on us by DC. And listen they will.

And speaking of our campaign, I am very excited by the Iowa rally this Saturday:

This is an historic moment. Of course, the Iowa Christian Alliance and Iowans for Tax Relief had the right to exclude the most pro-life, anti-tax candidate in the race. But when they did so, people rose up. So we are holding a rally that will reverberate around this country. Our campaign goes from strength to strength, but I am convinced that this Saturday will be very important in the fight for a free, peaceful, and prosperous America.

Maybe you can come to the rally. In any event, I know you’ll be there in spirit, and I’ll write you all about it afterwards. Your support in this race means everything to my family and me.

Warmest regards,
Ron

"The lack of an invitation didn't stop Congressman Ron Paul from crashing the party. Congressman Paul, R-Texas, was not extended an invitation to speak at Saturday's Iowans for Tax Relief/Iowa Christian Alliance forum at Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines. But, he spoke to more than 600 supporters less than 100 feet away from a forum that saw six of his fellow GOP candidates address more than 800 at the forum."

Ron Paul alone drew a crowd three-quarters as big as that drawn by six of his rivals combined. Not bad!!

Check those videos and the on-site reporting. They're claiming they filled virtually every seat of the 1,000 chairs they had. Sure looks like it to me.

I think RP buried the establishment candidates on turnout. This truly was our first national Ron Paul rally.

Wouldn’t need a fence if Washinton was doing what it is paid to do Protect the American citizen.

Instead we send them too much money and they can’t do the few jobs that they are hired to do. Fire them ALL

Good, the Republican powers that be are making a mistake excluding Dr. Paul from a Tax discussion, on domestic issues Ron Paul is the most credible and consistent candidate that we have in the race, he deserves to be heard.

MENDING WALL

Robert Frost Something there is that doesn't love a wall, That sends the frozen-ground-swell under it, And spills the upper boulders in the sun, And makes gaps even two can pass abreast. The work of hunters is another thing: I have come after them and made repair Where they have left not one stone on a stone, But they would have the rabbit out of hiding, To please the yelping dogs. The gaps I mean, No one has seen them made or heard them made, But at spring mending-time we find them there. I let my neighbor know beyond the hill; And on a day we meet to walk the line And set the wall between us once again. We keep the wall between us as we go. To each the boulders that have fallen to each. And some are loaves and some so nearly balls We have to use a spell to make them balance: 'Stay where you are until our backs are turned!' We wear our fingers rough with handling them. Oh, just another kind of out-door game, One on a side. It comes to little more: There where it is we do not need the wall: He is all pine and I am apple orchard. My apple trees will never get across And eat the cones under his pines, I tell him. He only says, 'Good fences make good neighbors'.

Spring is the mischief in me, and I wonder If I could put a notion in his head: 'Why do they make good neighbors? Isn't it Where there are cows? But here there are no cows. Before I built a wall I'd ask to know What I was walling in or walling out, And to whom I was like to give offence. Something there is that doesn't love a wall, That wants it down.' I could say 'Elves' to him, But it's not elves exactly, and I'd rather He said it for himself. I see him there Bringing a stone grasped firmly by the top In each hand, like an old-stone savage armed. He moves in darkness as it seems to me~ Not of woods only and the shade of trees. He will not go behind his father's saying, And he likes having thought of it so well He says again, "Good fences make good neighbors."

Wow 600 supporters at this time of year in Iowa! Good for him, and you can hear a lot of young adults fired up by the ideas of liberty, when he speaks. That by itself is a good thing.

Ol' Ed is probably eating his hat right about now. And this is hilarious. The Des Moines Register last night put Ed's forum attendance at 800 with Rep. Paul's get together at 'more than 500'. This morning, same paper mind you, the report now says...

An audience of more than 600 GOP activists turned out for the Paul event, held in Hy-Vee Hall next door to where six candidates addressed a subdued crowd of much the same size earlier.

Interesting how news stories change overnight isn't it? Perhaps by this afternoon, they'll have the actual numbers. Course that would make Ed (and the Republican establishment) look even worse

"The purpose of politics should be simple -- the promotion of liberty. All I have to do is fulfill my office, and obey the Constitution."--Ron Paul

If only more politicians felt the same

Mr. Paul is completely wrong about taking a stand against terrorists. He does not fully comprehend what it means and how to maintain the US a superpower protectorate of the *FREE* world. IF we don’t do it nobody else will as they have surely demonstrated.

Before we get too excited about the relative attendence numbers, there are a few questions that must be asked:

Were tickets required for admission to the GOP event?
Was the GOP ‘sold out’ meaning no more could be seated?
Was admission charged for the GOP event?

Wow, a Ron Paul article unrelated to the War in Iraq actually went a whole 13 posts before the pre-recorded "RonPaulbadonIraqblahbahblah" tapes came out. Amazing.

Alright, once again, for the record:

Because US Foreign Policy guidelines laid down in the 2002 State of the Union Address oppose the provision of military and financial support to Regimes which knowingly and willfully Harbor Terrorists (like the criminal thug-regime ruling Iraq), Ron Paul is RIGHT to insist that America greatly increase our OWN National Defense of our Borders, Coastlines, and Ports of Entry rather than attempt to referee an Islamic Civil War in Iraq (where the local "free, democratic" Government itself is utterly complicit in Harboring Anti-American Terrorists)!

Hey didn’t you post this as saluting Ron Paul as the guy to vote for????

Now I heard myself what Mr. Paul had to say about these terrorists thugs, very very very little, he had more to say about what we US have done to cause this problem. Won’t fly in my world!!!!

So if you think you can piece-meal a candidate as the one to vote for then you need to get a clue. That culture of Clintonism, his helpers called compartmentalization is still very much at work and seems it has no boundaries.

As far as know, the Tax Relief Forum was free to attend and was under-subscribed (I've heard that seating was provided for 1250, but only 800-850 showed up); whereas the Ron Paul event, also free, was over-subscribed (600+ compared to an original provision for 500).

However, these numbers are anecdotal and I'll try to get some hard data.

I did not compartmentalize. Although your post about the War on Terror was off the topic of the posted Article, I responded to it. To repeat

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, of the Al Dawa Party, was the Bureau Chief of the Al Dawa Party's terrorist "Jihad Office" in Damascus in the 1980s and was thus heavily responsible for Al Dawa operations in Beirut, while parliament member Jamal Jafaar Mohammed of his ruling coalition is one of the "Kuwait 17", still under a Kuwaiti death sentence (in absentia) for his direct involvement in the vicious attack on the US Embassy in Kuwait!

I do not believe that such a Terrorist-Dominated Government deserves further US military or monetary support, and I would like to see our own Borders, Coastlines, and Ports of Entry rigorously defended: hence my support for the former Leader of Ronald Reagan's Electoral Delegation from Texas, US Congressman Ron Paul.
