Worship is a powerful agent.
Satan knows this very well. What if Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Mickey Gilley, and others- especially many of the Motown artists- had been faithful to their calling?
What would our culture look like today?
I’m not going to down it. But this is about much more than music, even worship. This is about confronting principalities with spiritual authority.
Dear precious ovrtaxt,
Here is what else I mean; that repentance from sin is a gift from God.
Rom 2:4 Or do you despise the riches of His kindness, and the forbearance and the long-suffering, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?
and that we get the cart before the horse if we look for revival with no repentance for sin. We need to be begging God for his mercy so that he will send us repentance for all this horrible hog-wallow of sin.
What’s more,
Rev 3:2 Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your works complete in the sight of my God.
Rev 3:3 Remember, then, what you received and heard. Keep it, and repent. If you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come against you.
What we are really looking for is Conviction of sin, repentance and then Obedience to God’s word.
This is really about obeying God, not waging war in the heavenlies with worship, which sounds very holy, but how holy will this worship be if we skip over the most essential part of repentance and look to music to accomplish(which it can’t) what we ourselves need to do in our hearts, obey GOD.
Worship is no substitute for obeying God.
Spiritual authority belongs to Jesus, who is the head of all principality and power. We need to find ourselves first in obedience to Him, then He will give the victory and we will see wickedness retreat with OBEDIENCE to the Word of God.
I am sure you know that.
I just added this because I think I didn’t explain my intention very well.
