I wondered the same about you when you butted in to express outrage about a light-hearted comment
Forgive me for "butting in". I understood the forum protocol to be open discussion--anyone can respond to any post at any time. I will try to do better. Your comment, though, however light-hearted, was insensitive to persons who suffer from anxiety and/or alcoholism. I would imagine that comments referring to Terri Schiavo as a carrot would be offensive to you--as they would to me--no matter how light-hearted the speaker might have thought he was being. My point was that folks on this thread speak of defending the rights of the disabled in many posts, yet you didn't see the contradiction in disparaging the rights of those disabled by mental illness/addiction. For those of us who live with those every day, there is nothing lighthearted or funny about it.
Not if a cheerful comment to you elicits a cascade of self-righteous bloviation like this.
