What's the Rush?

That's the question Bobby Schindler asked in the case involving Jesse Ramirez, the Arizona man whose case paralleled that of Schindler's sister, Terri Schiavo, until Ramirez woke up. The Arizona Republic reports:

...Bobby Schindler of the Florida-based Terri Schindler Shiavo Foundation placed the blame on a medical establishment quick to dismiss patients with brain injuries.

Schindler is the brother of Terri Schiavo, a brain-damaged Florida woman who died in 2005 after a decades-long court battle.

"What is the rush?" he asked. "This is not the first time we've heard of cases like this where doctors want to write off the chance of recovery, and the family, when they're told this, will make a decision to end a person's life.

"In the case of Mr. Ramirez, he'd be dead now."

Why is Jesse alive? His family sought legal intervention with the help of the Alliance Defense Fund:
His siblings and parents refused to give him up for dead, and today, Jesse Ramirez is alive and conscious.

Two weeks ago, he was the center of a family battling over of whether he should live or die.

Now, he can hug and kiss, nod his head, answer yes and no questions, give a thumbs-up sign and sit in a chair.

BykrBayb pinged us to this thread by blam, and to the comparison done by Spiff on #18. It is a powerful reminder of how far the death lovers have to stretch the truth to keep their cover. As BykrBayb says, it bears repeating. Thanks, Spiff.

A thread by wagglebee updating the tiller-the-killer episode...

TOPEKA, Kans., July 19 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Kansas Attorney General Paul Morrison filed a motion with the Kansas Supreme Court yesterday in an attempt to intervene in an investigation by the Johnson County District Attorney into possible criminal activity by a Kansas City Planned Parenthood office.

"Although the records are sealed, there are numerous indications that this interference from Morrison's office is an attempt to side with Planned Parenthood in their efforts to reclaim possibly incriminating records from the District Attorney," said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman.

Planned Parenthood and George Tiller were under investigation for the concealment of child rape and illegal abortions by former Attorney General Phill Kline. In an unusual job swap, Morrison took over as A.G. in January while Kline replaced Morrison as Johnson County District Attorney. During his time in the D.A.'s office, Morrison did not investigate Planned Parenthood even though evidence had surfaced that the abortion office was coaching 13-year old girls what to say when they came in for abortions so their sexual abusers would not be reported to authorities.

Thread by wagglebee on Dr. Alveda King and the pit bull episode...

ATLANTA, Ga., July 20 /Christian Newswire/ -- Dr. Alveda King, Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life and niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., today said that the allegations of animal cruelty announced in the case against star quarterback Michael Vick highlight the disparity in societal protections for animals and unborn humans.

"The appalling cruelty to dogs described in the complaint against Michael Vick immediately reminds me of another kind of cruelty that is not only not punished, but is protected by our authorities," said Dr. King. "I'm talking about the incredible cruelty suffered by babies who are stabbed, have limb torn from limb, or have their skulls crushed in the womb by abortionists. The pain these children endure is undoubtedly excruciating, yet we close our eyes and look the other way in the name of 'choice.'"

"Yes, of course we should ensure humane treatment of animals," said Dr. King, "but shouldn't we also humanely treat humans?"

“Some people think abortion just makes the baby kind of disappear. They still don’t appreciate that it is an act of violence. It is only the pictures of the aborted children, torn apart, limb for limb that convince people that abortion is an act of violence...........................................................”

That is powerful.

We actually encountered one day, an acquaintance on this topic, one who otherwise was reasonable and fairly decent, just a little self centered. When we asked her to explain what happens to a baby when it is aborted, flustered, she explained, “Well, it just sort of goes away...”

She could not resolve the violence in her mind so just had it “go away.”

This comes from the St. Pete Times, folks.

His pace is much slower now at age 86. His body is weaker from heart disease. But the old man's memories are clear. Just ask

Delbert Jackson lives alone now. LifePath Hospice and Palliative Care looks after him, along with a few neighbors and friends. Unlike Terri Schiavo, whose wishes were never truly known, he has a living will that protects his wish to die comfortably and naturally at home, away from state government debate and public scrutiny.

"I'm at peace," Jackson said. "I don't want to be kept alive in a vegetative state. If there's no hope for me, then let me go." He added, "I don't believe in suicide. My Lord and I have a very private pact. I won't do it myself. I'll wait for him."

Awwww...

One retired Jacksonville executive who has supported Republican presidential candidates going back to Barry Goldwater has even switched teams, giving the maximum $2,300 donation to Democratic Sen. Barack Obama. Between the administration's intervention in the right-to-die case of Terry Schiavo, the war in Iraq, and deficit spending by Congress, lifelong Republican Alvin ''Pete'' Carpenter has lost faith.

My, my. Didn't the St. Pete Times bend every editorial effort to kill Terri? Didn't the St. Pete Times applaud Judge Greer's ruling that there was "clear and convincing" evidence that Terri wished to die? Didn't the St. Pete Times all along have connections to Art Caplan and the euthanasia movement?

Now somebody at the paper squeaks the truth, that nobody knew what her wishes were. Including Michael Schiavo.

Killing her, if not at her informed wish, was murder.

Rep. Pence sounds like the right stuff. We could use six Pence.

Thread from wagglebee:

There is a movement afoot to strip Planned Parenthood of millions of annual taxpayer dollars. One of the leaders in this effort is Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind., whom I mentioned last week as being a chief cog in the effort to halt activation of the Fairness Doctrine, which Democrats hope to use to stifle conservative talk radio.

Rep. Pence, a rising star in the Republican Party, this week offered an amendment to the House appropriations bill (H.R. 3043) that funds the Departments of Labor and Health and Human Services, to prohibit taxpayer dollars from funding Planned Parenthood's abortion efforts.

Amen.

It didn't even matter by law. They MAY NOT kill her unless they prove by "clear and convincing" evidence [Cruzan] that she made an informed decision to refuse extraordinary medical care. That's why Greer rubber-stamped his decision "clear and convincing." But it was based on no allowable evidence at all. (See Prof. Snead on that.)

In other words, Greer simply fabricated a case to execute Terri.

Just part of the PP marketing ploy...

Thread by wagglebee.

An author and expert on abstinence education says Planned Parenthood promotes so-called "comprehensive sex education" while virtually ignoring the only proven method of preventing pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease.

Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, author of Smart Sex: Finding Life-Long Love in a Hook-Up World, says Planned Parenthood aggressively advocates contraception, but admits that their methods do not work for their target audience.

More PP marketing...

Many groups in the world rightly fight against this atrocity by promoting legislation to enforce 18 as the minimum age of marriage. They promote education for girls as an alternative to marriage, teaching parents about how schooling can lead to better financial situations and poverty reduction. But some of these organizations, such as International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), while seeing many of the horrible problems inherent in child marriage and promoting some of these beneficial ideas, ignore the fact that one of the many reasons for opposing child marriage is that children and teenagers are not emotionally or physically ready to engage in the sexual activity and child-bearing that results from early marriage. Experts indicate that adolescents are not physically and emotionally fully developed until they are around 17 years of age or older. Even though they are developing sexually, it is unfair to force them, or encourage them, to plunge into a world of sex before they are fully mature and ready, physically, mentally and emotionally, for sexual activity within a healthy, adult marriage.

Why, then, does IPPF and its domestic sister organization, Planned Parenthood, not advocate sexual abstinence for adolescents? They insist that teens be given condoms and contraceptives, claiming that teens will have sex no matter what, so they might as well have "safe-sex". This is ignoring the fact that 92 percent of teens and 94 percent of adults polled in the United States believe that teens should be strongly encouraged by society to remain abstinent until at least after high school, and that two-thirds of sexually active teens wish they had waited longer to have sex. According to IPPF, it is wrong for teenage girls to be married, but alright for them to "explore their sexuality," as long as they and their partner use condoms? It is irresponsible for IPPF to fight against child marriage while ignoring the physical and emotional immaturity of the adolescents whom IPPF assumes will engage in so-called "free-sex."

>> Ah, the feared word, "murder"

It was murder. Even under the law it was murder. Judge Greer had absolutely no authority for ordering that Terri be given no water or food by mouth. This was not the same as allowing her to refuse medical care. This was ordering her to die.

Law Professor Gary Amos argued persuasively that save for a couple of dissents, every judge in reviewing courts through and including all nine justices of the Supreme Court made himself a party to murder and should therefore be impeached. Yes, that includes Scalia and Thomas.

Dr. Friedman preached, "There ain't no such thing as a free lunch" -- immortalized on buttons and bumper stickers as TANSTAAFL. I am here to tell you, there ain't no such thing as free sex, either.

Guys, if you think sex is free when you're married, try taking away her credit cards :-)

Could “free sex” be just a little oxymoronic? Certainly it is not redundant like “free gift”. I don’t suppose the prices are even low in the second hand shops.

ST. PETE TIMES PERSPECTIVE section today... their admission that Terri's wishes were unknown.

Is this new on their part? If so, it makes Judge Greer look like the criminal he truly is. Maybe they aren't such pals with Greer like the good old days?
