For illegals, false IDs are easy to find, hard to track

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- To his bosses at Pilgrim's Pride, he was Juan Jose Rodriguez -- it said so on the birth certificate and Social Security card he presented when the southwestern Arkansas chicken plant hired him six years ago.

At his De Queen, Ark., home, he was Joel Garibay-Urbina -- with a wife, three kids and a mortgage under his own name.

And to police officers responding to a domestic violence call, he was just the latest illegal immigrant to have two identities after an arrest.

"We've arrested them and they offer an Arkansas identification card, and they give us a ... work badge and it's a different name," said De Queen police investigator Sean Martin. "There's no real way to tell."

It turns out that for $800, Garibay-Urbina had rented the American dream. Though local police, prosecutors and immigration agents say they don't know how widespread the practice is, federal watchdog reports dating back to 1988 have warned of the relative ease of obtaining a fraudulent birth certificate.

Assuming the identity of a U.S. citizen -- keeping the documents just long enough to convince Pilgrim's Pride he was a U.S. citizen -- Garibay-Urbina was able to get a job, buy a gun and live undetected until police arrested him after he fought with his wife in January.

You might be an illegal if you have a State issued Drivers License, a Social Security Number and have to wait for the “Press 1 for English” to pass so that you can actually speak with someone. This ain’t rocket science we are dealing with here!

I guess you must be the bigot, gramnesty was talking about. Jerkoff from home land sercurity will be after you, because he hasn't figured that out yet. ROFLOL

That is exactly the reponse that I put on every RNC “Past Due” envelope that arrives in the mail. “You must be one of the elite DC Republicans that calls me Racist, Bigot or Nativist for being against an illegal invasion of my Country”.

I usually get really down on them at that point. No Money until mel is fired and a Conservative is put in charge of the RNC! Not a dime!!!

Imagine the lust in any politician’s eyes (Republican or Democrat): here you have a permanent underlcass ready to exalt those who bestow gifts upon them for lawbreaking and intransigence.

Large downtrodden groups are getting harder to find in America. The standard of living is still sky-high compared to the rest of the world and the usual welfare-state suspects may not be numerous or reliable enough to count on for votes.

There are so many virtual fences to keep this voting bloc homogenous and loyal (never mind that they aren’t legally entitled to vote...yet): the language barrier, a tendency to produce numerous children (or at least more than their American counterparts) and a Third-World life experience that allows them to view the most Spartan accomodations as luxurious compared to those back home. It’s a government-as-provider politician’s dream: 20 million new “citizens” (quotes intentional) who will vote in lock-step and don’t require anything more than the basics (i.e., they are bought votes, but cheap ones).

No wonder the Senate had stars in their eyes when they tried to weasel amnesty through this time around.

“If the federal government wanted to fix these problems, they could.”

Oh sure. Just like stopping illegal drugs.

Don't bail out of the states you're in or go South or whatever. The problem is everywhere. In WA state we've made it much simpler for illegals to get work. Just get a $35 business license, no ID needed, then get an IRS tax number, no ID needed.

Then get all the work you want as a subcontractor, whatever you want to do. Better yet, there's no tax or SS withholding and the illegal businessmen can hire all the amigos they want to and play needle in a haystack with the government.

Our Governor has been brayng like a mule about the 40% increase in Hispanic-owned businesses in WA last year.

Empowerment! Diversity! Hey Cisco! Hey Pancho! Lets ride!

For many years now, it has become increasingly easy to get any fraudulent document you might want and can pay for. A complete package of passport, green card, SS card and birth certificate cost only $1000 ten years ago. It's now a huge business selling fake IDs and the gummint is unable or unwilling or both to find a way to stop it.

IMHO, a national ID card that would be practically impossible to counterfeit would be a step in the right direction, but many people, including many Freepers, think that it would curtail our freedoms and allow the gummint to track us more easily. They don't need a national ID card to track us. They already do it now, so what's the problem? The SS, the IRS, the military, political parties and even large businesses track us all all the time. It's time to give a real ID card to all who can prove they are legally here and deport the rest.

You call me slow... IRONY seems to allude you. At least I do not make unsubstantiated claims about your intelligence. Which one of our posts is closer to the FReeper norm?

Be careful what you wish for, you may get it.

Bring it on then, I am tired of living in a foreign country, I already have to present a drivers license to almost anyone who demands it, so what's your problem?

Are replying to my post or someone else’s post? My original post was in the form of a question and was implicitly raising the issue that amnesty considered by the Senate wasn’t limited to act illegal presence in this country but extended to a whole host of illegal activities committed by each and every illegal immigrant.

“I have left the Republican Party in protest”

This is the only solution. Why do you think senators changed their tune on the second cloture vote? It wasn’t because they felt in their hearts they needed to do what was best for America, it was because they feared losing their jobs next election.

“Sadly, it appears we are moving toward policies like a national ID that diminish our liberties. Like gun control, these approaches only punish the innocent, as criminals will always find a way around the law.”

Say what you will about Ron Paul, he nailed that one.

IMHO, a national ID card that would be practically impossible to counterfeit....

As an engineer, I would have to disagree. ANYTHING that is man made can be copied, i.e., counterfeited, by another man. There is no such thing as being impossible to counterfeit. Just ask the Chinese.

There is no need for a national ID card. The illegals, both the ones coming here to work and the ones coming here to commit crimes, do it for one reason: Dinero. There are four easy ways to get them to leave without having to round up a single hombre.

First, crack down on employers who hire illegals. These laws already exist. I mean really crack down. Fines, asset seizures, etc., whatever it takes to make them stop hiring illegal criminal aliens. A good place to start would be the carpet mills in Dalton, GA, and the Tyson chicken processing plants around the country. Large construction companies would be another good place to look. Dry up the jobs, take away the dinero and the illegal criminal aliens will go home. They come here for money. Dry up the money and they will go elsewhere, just like they did when they left Mexico. No national ID card necessary.

Two, enforce the laws regarding money earned here being transferred out of the country. You and I cannot take large sums of money out of the country without major scruitiny. Try it sometime.

Three, build the fence similar to what Israel has done, from the Pacific to the Gulf of Mexico. Man the border with armed troops as necessary. In this time of suitcase nukes and Muslim fanatics desperately wanting to kill every American, this one is a no brainer. It's also one of the five essential things the Federal Gubmint is charged to do in the Constitution. If these troops are fired upon and those doing the firing retreat into Mexico, authorize pursuit into Mexico. Since it appears that the Mexican Army is helping drug smugglers, including the use of Mexican Army helicopters and Mexican Army vehicles to both smuggle drugs and support the smugglers, the Mexican government is either complicit with this tactic or doesn't have control of it's own Army troops and as such we must treat this as a hostile invasion. The hopelessly corrupt Mexican government begging for this one.

Four, pass a Federal law that states anyone who has come here illegally from any country on the planet has automatically removed any chance of ever obtaing legal status in the USA. No green cards, no work Visas, nothing. No work, no Dinero. No Dinero, you go elsewhere.

Do these things and the problem with illegal criminal aliens will be greatly reduced if not eliminated.
