Have you stopped to consider how much Bush has jeopardized the war effort by his Amnesty Agenda?
He's alienated the very base of support he needs to conduct the war--now many of us who were dubious about the attempt to democratize savage tribes of demented death-cultists are feeling much freer to express the doubts that we kept quiet out of faith and trust--he was willing to dispose of that support for love of Vicente.
It was folly. How are we supposed to trust a man to conduct a war who refuses to protect our ports and borders?
Excellent point - Bush has destroyed his credibility with the Harriet Myers fiasco and his Amnesty “that he says isn’t an Amnesty - or does he?”. These blunders are now threatening the war effort in Iraq by alienating his base. Your last phrase sums it up “How are we supposed to trust a man to conduct a war who refuses to protect our ports and borders?”.
That you disagreed with the WH on the issue of a 30 year in the making problem is fine (so did I for the most part). But that is how our Gov't works. To suggest everyone within our political party needs to be some cookie-cutout is non-serious and silly.
Hell R. Reagan was a terrible POTUS/CINC then as well. Since he gave full and blanket amnesty to all illegals who were here prior to 1982 (along with those here from in 85 or 86)
Reality is we are at war with a terrorist element that has no set borders. That thrives and exists because the Middle East has remained in the dark ages. The world is simple too small and to easily dangerous any longer to ignore it, or to allow them to stay in the dark ages.
It must be dragged out of them for our own NS. GWB understood this reality. With that goes along with the fact that this process is going to be long, extremely difficult and frustrating at times...(which is why UBL and other mimics like him don't believe we have the stomach for such difficult tasks).
Bingo!
Well said, Mamzelle.
It was folly. How are we supposed to trust a man to conduct a war who refuses to protect our ports and borders?
I have been one very saddened Pubbie.
Democracy and Islam don't mix. There are plenty of Muslims who aspire to live free and democratically but the savage Muslims usually seize the reins of power. We now know Saddam was the perfect beast to rule Iraq's querulous religious factions. Muslims like dictators and authoritarian rule because that's what Muhammad their false prophet was. And Allah is just big ol' dictator in the sky
