I wonder if it ever occurred to the boneheads that they could deputize and train gun owners accually fight crime.
On the other hand, I don't think the mayors have much motive to improve the crime situation. Most are in office for life.

The whole purpose of gun control is to render "we the people" as opposed "we the government" INCAPABLE of resisting aggression. Then we have no defense against the whims of the political class
