“As I understand it, the Brits of Indian descent living in Britian have demanded that they no longer be included in the category of “Asian””

Not quite, the Indians are happy to be described as Asian - the main objection was to the habbit in the UK in the 1970s and 1980s to describe everybody we no describe as ‘Asian’ as “Pakis”. Indians (rightly) got very wound up by constantly having that term applied (all the more so, beacuase it was never used as a respectful term!). Since the mid to late 1980s that “P” word is about as taboo as the “N” word for a black person.

For the interest of US readers, as I said earlier - we call what you call ‘Asian’ - ‘Oriental’.

Incidentlly, just heard an interview with a guy in glasgow who described holiday makers shouting ‘Let Him Burn!’ when the authorities went to the wannabe suicide bomber with a fire extinguisher....

Asian, my ass. These are Middle Eastern men. This PC crap has got to go.

Easy there, FRiend. In the U.K. they call Pakis "Asians". Most of the Islamist troublemakers there are Paki rather than Arab. They used to call them Pakis but the PC retards disallowed that so "Asian" became the acceptable word.

Day after car bomb attempts

Seemed obvious to me yesterday that it is more likely that the failed car bombs on Friday were just a test of response times & tactics, than it is likely that 2 out of 2 car bombs failed to detonate. In other words, those cars were never meant to explode: the bad guys were just watching and taking notes.

Autopsy reveals driver of Glasgow vehicle was recent graduate from Terrorist camp in Pakistan

They are recruiting and training suicide bombers for attacks world over. Attacks using vehicles filled with explosives, gasoline, gas cylinders, nails, etc. are easy to pull off and will be happening a lot more in the future. Sadly, there is no shortage of bomber candidates among the ranks of that sick cult, Islam.

We need to set all of Northern Pakistan ablaze.

Yup... only a burning car... pay no attention to the clearly visable blast effects surrounding it.

My big fear is all of the “Pops” concerts that are going to be held on July 4.

Watching Fox news. The newsreader made the idiotic statement that these car bombs could be the result of Iraq acting as an “incubator,” which is training terrorist how to make car bombs. What stupidity. The OKC bombing used a vehicle for the bomb. The same holds true for WTC I. Car bombs have been used in Israel. All of this long before we went to Iraq. I guess the implication is that if we get out of Iraq, these attacks will stop.

Yes, according to an article I read here last night, at least one of the two stolen Mercedes found near that nightclub in London had earlier been spotted in Scotland. I think Glasgow, although I don’t remember for sure. But definitely Scotland.

Birmingham, England.

Some of the terrorists who were intending to blow up those 10 airliners last summer came from here. This is a large industrial city in the center of England, and full of Muslims.

That sounds like the Beeb.
LBC 1152’s top of the hour news from the same page may be better.

Thanks for the clarification!

I once worked for a CEO from Scotland. One a scale of one to ten the term “flipping” was often directly associated with my name.

Where does “flipping” fall on the Swear-O-Meter?

I never liked his use of the “F” Bomb around the ladies in the office. Apparently the “F” bomb is commonly used in the UK with Bloody being the “Big One” over there?

Wow did you hear the eyewitness. At the time he thought it was an accident and asked the police officer if they should move the person away from the flames.

The cop is reported to have said, "Let the (bleeping) b@st@rd burn."

On the “Asian” thing, I don’t believe there’s anything PC going on. India was Britain’s biggest colony. After independence, it split into India and Pakistan. Later, Bangladesh split from Pakistan. The term “Asian” was universally used in Britain to describe people from these three countries long before any of us had heard of Bin Laden or the like. Hundreds of thousands from all three countries now live here. Virtually no indigenous person in the UK could tell an Indian from a Pakistani or a Bangladeshi just by looking. “Asian” is a neutral term. Needless to say we all know that the present troubles are caused by Islamics, who, in the UK, are usually from Pakistan but can include some from India. None of these places are in the “Middle East”.

I'm leaning towards adopting the term Desi (say daisy) as it is what people from the Indian sub-continent call themselves.
