August 15, 2006 Top Muslim policeman slams UK "terror profile" plan Here comes the predictable response to this story. From Reuters, with thanks to Anon:

LONDON (Reuters) - A top British Muslim policeman has warned that any moves to "terror profile" airline passengers would create a new offence -- "traveling whilst Asian".

Media have reported the government is discussing with British airport authorities a system of profiling -- where security staff focus their search efforts on people they regard as suspicious on grounds such as ethnicity and religion.

Such a move could spark outrage among Britain's Muslims but aviation experts said profiling was vital to break the gridlock at airports, in chaos since last week due to tightened security after police said they foiled an Islamist plot to bomb planes.

Former British police chief John Stevens said airport bottlenecks could be reduced by careful targeting, with "young Muslim men" a focus.

Metropolitan Police Chief Superintendent Ali Desai, one of Britain's top Muslim police officers, said of the plan: "What you are suggesting is that we should have a new offence in this country called 'traveling whilst Asian'."

No, what they are suggesting is that those who may actually represent a threat receive particular attention.

"What we don't want to do is actually alienate the very communities who are going to help us catch terrorists," he told BBC Newsnight on Monday. If they really want to help catch terrorists, they won't mind this. No one who doesn't actually represent a threat, and is a loyal citizen, would object to putting up with some inconvenience in order to help stop future calamity and loss of life.

Sharply aware of the political sensitivities involved, Transport Department officials have refused to answer any questions on profiling proposals. "Our security measures at airports are layered. Some measures are visible. Others we are not prepared to discuss. That plays into the hands of terrorists," a department official told Reuters.

Many of Britain's 1.7 million Muslims accuse the police of unfairly targeting their community in their crackdown on terrorism after last year's suicide bomb attacks on London's transport system by Islamist militants that killed 52 people.

Since 2000, police have arrested over 700 people -- many of them Muslims -- under tough anti-terrorism laws but have brought only a handful to court. The vast majority have been released without charge.

Muhammad Abdul Bari, general secretary of the Muslim Council of Britain, was eager to dispel a siege mentality, saying "If you treat a community as a problem community, you are not going to get support from them."

Asked what he thought passenger profiling might provoke, he told Sky News: "It could end up in racism unfortunately."

"If the profiling is done on the basis of race and religion, it will be wrong, it is not going to work."

Why not? All the July 7 bombers were Muslims. All the plotters in the recent airplane case are Muslims. All were working on the basis of Islamic theology. Why must officials continue not to notice this?

( I suppose that in the US, spies could be recruited from CAIR membership? LOL!)

“Border Security Tightened”

Well thank God. Seems the only thing that wakes people up is a close call, if even then... we here at FR know that if a plane hijacked by terrorists crashed into a Berkeley professor’s home and killed his family and his dog, he would teach his students how that plane never would have been in that position if we (US) had not invaded Iraq.

Thanks Fred, the back scratching has begun.

A good dhimmi never needs to profile, just bigger back scratchers.

"If you treat a community as a problem community, you are not going to get support from them."

Yes, Abdul from the MCB, next time you guys seethe and whine about ceramic pigs in windowsills, allah ice cream, carton characters or porking yerds, dhimmis will be sending out police SWAT teams for you ASAP to strike terror in the hearts of the disbelievers, and implement sharia in the west thru the backdoor.

Well, that's what he's after anyway.

http://www.islamonline.net/English/News/2006-09/11/02.shtml

The MCB leader criticized double standards in dealing with the ugly phenomenon of terror.

"When the Irish situation was prevailing in this country, the government and the security agencies targeted the people who were creating crime in the society, the catholic community was not targeted as a bad community," he said.

"Unfortunately, we have some bad apples and because of them the whole community is demonized."

Abdul Bari slammed anti-terror measures, including house raids and racial profiling, applied in the wake of the 7/7 terrorist attacks.

"It is not helping at all," he stressed, asserting that there are better ways to deal with any issue over a Muslim school or mosque than raiding them.

He cited last week's raid on an Islamic school that is a charitable organization.

"If I was a police officer what I would have done is to ask the charity commission what exactly is happening there and probably go to the school directly and talk to the management and the head teacher and see what is going on. And if they hide something then there is a room for investigation in other things.

"But nothing we don’t know about and suddenly a school is vilified in the pretext that someone called Abu Hamza [Al-Masri] went there a few times and had some meetings." ...

Poor Abu Hamza... probably just another typical mohammadan immigrant trying to feed several wives and his kids while on welfare and complaining about their free housing...

(BTW Sorry, I seem to have forgotten the standard whine about the infidels foreign policy too.)

You obviously didn't go to the same whining school:

The MCB leader said British Muslims are still facing daunting domestic challenges.

"It is education, housing, employment and health issues that are haunting sections of the Muslim communities; some are more affected than others.

"Unemployment is more than three times the national average," he added.

A government-backed study, conducted by university researchers in Birmingham, Derby, Oxford and Warwick, showed in July that 14% of Muslims aged over 25 were unemployed, compared with the national unemployment rate of 4%.

Commissioned to review the prospects of faith communities in England, it also found Muslims had poorer levels of education and were more vulnerable to long-term illness.

here's hoping they turn out to be fatal.

They've been saying that immediately after the islamafanatic suicidal potential murderer ignited.

Hopefully they are not sedating the gory doc.

I hope they’re giving him some pain meds.

We don’t want him to pass out do we?

I also think it would be a nice gesture if they’d let him make a jihad recruiting video before he goes...

A handout police surveillance photograph shows Ramzi Mohammed (3rd L) and Yassin Hassan Omar (4th L) training on a camping trip, in Cumbria, north west England, in this May 2004 file photograph. Ibrahim and three other Muslims of African origin -- Yassin Hassan Omar, Ramzi Mohammed and Hussein Osman -- were found guilty on Monday of conspiracy to murder in connection with the failed attacks of July 21, 2005. Some of the faces in this photograph were pixelated at source by the Metropolitan Police

Glasgow Jeep Man 'Unlikely To Survive'

Updated: 17:35, Tuesday July 10, 2007

A terror suspect injured in the Glasgow terror attempt is unlikely to survive, one of his doctors has said.

Jeep on fire at Glasgow AirportA member of the medical team treating Kafeel Ahmed at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Glasow said the man's severe burns were likely to prove fatal.

The doctor, speaking anonymously, said: "The prognosis is not good and he is not likely to survive.

"He has third-degree burns over most of his torso and limbs.

"It is beyond repair and because he has lost so much skin he is now vulnerable to infection and wont be able to fight it."

Bomb suspect worked for blue chip company

One of the Indian suspects in the failed terror attack on Glasgow airport was a design engineer for an outsourcing company servicing some of the biggest names in the aviation and defence industry, it emerged yesterday.

Kafeel Ahmed, 27, who is in a Scottish hospital with 90 per cent burns to his body after allegedly crashing a Jeep into the airport’s concourse on June 30, worked at Infotech Enterprises in Bangalore from December 2005 to August 2006.

As an aeronautical engineer, Mr Ahmed may have had access to sensitive information about blue-chip clients, which include Boeing and Airbus.

Infotech Enterprises is a $120 million IT and design outsourcing company headquartered in Hyderbad with 25 offices around the world including in the UK and the US.

Zawahri threatens more attacks in UK

Tue Jul 10, 2007 6:12PM BST

DUBAI (Reuters) - Al Qaeda's second-in-command, Ayman al-Zawahri, on Tuesday threatened more attacks on Britain two weeks after failed bombings in London and Glasgow.

"I say to (Former Prime Minister Tony) Blair's successor that the policy of your predecessor drew catastrophes in Afghanistan and Iraq and even in the centre of London," he said in a tape posted on a Web site used by al Qaeda-linked groups.

"If you did not learn the lesson then we are ready to repeat it, God willing, until we are sure you have fully understood."

It was not immediately possible to verify the authenticity of the tape.
