Israel can't win a war with Hezbollah for any number of reasons. First the Israeli public won't support the long term incursion/occupation of Southern Lebanon that would be necessary to do this, and second that would in any case put Israel at odds with it's key allies in the West which support the Sinora government.
Finally going to war with Hezbollah only plays into and helps legitimize this terror org's cynical posturing as defenders of Lebanon. By ignoring Hezbollah (and going after Syria instead) Israel would embarrass Hezbollah by treating them as what they really are: pawns and puppets of Lebanon's enemies and would be imperialist overlords Syria and Iran.
In fact it wouldn't hurt a bit for Israel to engage in a bit of brinkmanship. Why leave that tactic solely to the thugs? Israel should announce in advance that they will hold Syria responsible for any aggression against Israel by Hezbollah, and that for as long as rockets are fired on Israel from Lebanon, Israeli bombs will fall on Syria.
Interesting. I like the way you think.
Interesting strategy.
I like your idea. Blame Syria for anything Hamas does.
sounds good.
Might work. Now if you can suggest how Israel might get a new PM.
This time, if there is another provocation by Hezbollah, Israel should ignore them as much as possible and instead go after the weak link in this particular chain of terror: Iran's Bitch, Basher "The Pencil-Necked Geek" Assad... going to war with Hezbollah only plays into and helps legitimize this terror org's cynical posturing as defenders of Lebanon.
