Interesting that the much-touted enforcement portions are not on the list, showing us what they were really aiming for.

AgJobs and DREAM Act are just more amnesties, just not the mother-of-all-amnesties that the Z visa represents.
With the DREAM Act you get to have “Anchor Teenagers” instead of anchor babies: by coming over with a 12 year old, getting them in school (taxpayer paid of course), then when they graduate and go to the local community college for a few years, you have amnesty.

AgJobs is amnesty for farm worker.

“so what are you for?” asked Senator Kennedy.

We do need an answer that says here is what we are for. We need an answer that
unites most Americans.

This is our immigration and illegal immigration program for the next 18 months:
Enforcement first. Legal immigration law changes later. Amnesty never.

Executive branch:
1. Build the border fence ASAP and secure the border, reduce border crossings by 90%
2. Deport criminal aliens aggressively, and significantly reduce 600,000 deportation order backlog
3. Get US visit program really implemented to track entries, exits and visa overstays

Legislation needed now:
4. Implement and establish employee verification program to enforce immigration law in the workplace
5. Eliminate sanctuary cities (i.e., the Coleman amendment)
6. Funding to implement items 1,2, and 3.

Later:
7. Replace ‘chain migration’ with a more employment-focussed and merit-based immigration
system, where we select the best from around the world.
8. End anchor babies.
9. Temporary worker program that is limited.

This is SO true. And imagine, the dopes still haven't figured out that we're onto them.

Americans paid Congress (Senator Kennedy)
back in 1986 to fix the problem. Congress
is double dipping.

The bill that wouldn't die.

Oddly enough, I don't have a problem with taking today's actual farm workers, with good records and sponsors, and granting residence and work permits. It'd fast track some form of monitored Bracero program, should exclude extended families, and specifically omit the urban / industrial blight that is the real culprit (aside from the illegal part).

Once someone is here legally, or to avoid being declared illegal, I wouldn't be averse to setting a minimum period of honorable military service, and reasonable achievement, as a means of citizenship. Again, no extended families.

The other stuff now apparently on the table is a large part of why the 'compromise' was rejected.

Biggest point is omission of border security - fences and agents, factory sweeps, mandatrory deportations, and generally stopping the attraction for non-farm workers.

I also wonder when someone is going to come up with brass enough to address anchor babies!
