I suppose there is just no chance that these trees were buried more recently in a really big flood?

Naaaaaaaaaaahh. Couldn't happen....could it? Naaaaaaaaaaahh.

_________

From reading the article, your question above could surely be answered in the affirmative, if you intend to rewrite the Bible so that the rain that fell for 40 days and nights was actually lava.

There was an age before this one. The Bible tells us that the earth is millions or billions of years old, not 6,000 as some believe. The Bible and science are compatible on this point.

Gen.1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2.And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep.

This didn't state when that was, just in the beginning. God destroyed that earth age because of Satan's rebellion and started again with our present, 2nd age.

And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. (this is when our age began)

3.And God said, "Let there be light;" and there was light.
4.And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5. And God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day
.

That was the first day of our age. Also factor into this that to God 1,000 years is as one day. (2Peter3:8)
