I wouldn’t be surprised if Cheney were counting down the 18 months to his freedom. He was loyal and stayed the course with Bush but I wonder what he really thinks about all of this at this point.
My West Wing friend tells me Cheney had been spending recent months battling Condi and Robert Gates on just about every policy decision, from whether to increase pressure/sanctions on Iran to what to do about Hamas/Abbas. In each case he has lost to the quisling Rice/Gates cabal. I don't know how he stands it. He is a great American. I wish he could have been president.
