So what else can a person not repent of? Is ex-thief in your list of possibles? And were they born a thief and so couldn't help themselves?

It is interesting how anyone can see the evidence of anatomy and physiology and conclude that a person "is" whatever contrary thing his own warped mind desires. Thinking a thing doesn't make it so. And you do no one any favors by helping them deny reality.
