“After the roughing up that Voinovich got on Hannity’s radio show yesterday, he changed his tune from the “You don’t know what’s in this bill and I do.” line to voting against it? hmmmmmmm...”

I imagine that a lot of the switchers got religion after Hannity, Rush, and their constituents pointed out that their careers were in jeopardy.

Immigration/RINOs

Add bush to the list. He's exhausted what little political capital he had left on this misguided cause. His hopelessly weakened presidency will now be under relentless attack from both right and left. He will be the lamest of lame ducks in history and 2008 can't come soon enough.

They form the basis for a new moderate party (along with Lieberman, Voinavich et al). Mayor Bloomberg has the money. Mark my word, this is coming QUICKLY.

Why is it the wrong answer. What is the worst that will happen. A democrat gets elected and votes yes on the amnesty bill. They are doing us NO GOOD in office. Vote them out.

Well look what Maxine Waters did to this activist who tried to lobby her on how illegal aliens hurt homeless blacks.

Just the fact that all those Republicans, like Bond and Burr, would have voted for an amnesty bill if it just had some better provisions in there, is scary. There is only on way to look at the immigration problem: Enforce the law. That means employer sanctions, build a fence, staff the BP, deputize the locals, stop paying their social services, and deport those that come into your grasp. Most of those here will self-deport if their jobs and benefits dry up, and employers will stop hiring them if they risk going to jail.

Rush just said he KNOWS that Dems on the floor were telling pubs go ahead and vote for amnesty, by the time they were up for relection “talkradio’ will have been dealt with!

Rush may need to move to satellite radio. Or run for office himself!

There’s no way a more liberal bill would pass. You’d have even more pubs doing the right thing with even more pressure coming from us.

To be fair, you could not get much more liberal than the bill being offered, especially once you saw how all the conservative amendments were being shot down in flames. They’d never have enforced anything that was real border control or fines, etc.

I agree!

I’m saying if we can’t get them out in the primary, toss their asses out in the general election.

They’ve showed their colors, and they ain’t on our side.

“If the RINOs aren’t defeated in the primaries then there is very little alternative but to vote for them in the general, just hold your noses.”

Bull! If they make it through the primaries we must contribute to whoever stands a chance at beating them! I can’t stand this party as long as A-holes like Arlen Spinktor and Gramnisty remain in it.

"If the RINOs aren’t defeated in the primaries then there is very little alternative but to vote for them in the general,"

If a RINO, (republican in name only), makes it to the general, how would he be any different than a democrat who openly admits to his liberalism? They're both liberals, but one lies about his true beliefs. I will never vote for a man whom I know is merely pretending to be a conservative. So in the case of a RINO vs a Democrat, I'll either stay home or write in Duncan Hunter. I just can't see voting for my own destruction, or for the destruciton of my country.

I’m curious as to what Craig’s motivation was on this . Sen. Craig is far from being a RINO and perhaps one of the best Senators that we have .

I’m getting to the point where I agree with those who will throw the RINOs out, no matter what Dem is running against them. I’m not there yet—it depends on whether we get a conservative to lead the party in 2008. Remember, Reagan came into a GOP that was mostly moderates and libs, the party of Gerald Ford, Nixon, Romney Sr. and Nelson Rockefeller, and he came from the minority conservative wing of that party and led the rest of us to his side, making converts along the way. The GOP can do that again, with the right person at the helm, but if it does not, a bloodbath followed by restructuring might be called for. It is a dangerous gambit, though, because the Dems, once they have control of the Congress and White House, will do all they can to prevent a resurgence of conservatism, including stifling free speech.
