If you think they are snobs you should read what the interns say about calls they are recieving.
There’s a website where interns communicate with each other and their disdain for callers and those who write in against the bill is beyond belief.

Filthy language, contempt for constituents — I was really taken aback. These arrogant hormonal children are in charge of taking your calls and reading the mail you send in.
I read that. The link was posted on another thread. It is amazing. I was shocked.
These people are hired because they represent the views of either that senator or house member, in more cases than not. The problem is not fixable. DC is awash in traitors.
