I still don't understand why they didn't just say "fogedaboutit" when this whole thing started. There can be nothing criminal about firing people you had a right to hire and fire.

I am still mystified that on Day One of this fabricated “fired US Attorneys scandal” Bush didn’t simply laugh in the Democrats’ faces and tell them to go play in the street (”Nobody is testifying at your circus, your subpoenas are going straight into the trash can, and by the way I just fired five more US Attorneys because it’s Thursday.”). Instead, Bush sent Gonzales off on an apology tour and then fed him to the Senate jackals.

It’s a little late in the game but maybe Bush is finally growing some spine.
