You know what? You're both right. President Bush has been a strong CIC and solid on most issues. He is dead wrong on this one, but this wasn't the top issue in 2000 and 2004 and he never attempted to deceive us on his immigration stance.

That said, we (that's right, WE THE PEOPLE) killed the bill and stopped him on this one issue where he is sadly, pathetically mistaken.

Incendiary rhetoric about the CIC, regardless of party affiliation, brings our side down to the level of DU. That ain't gonna win us any elections going forward.

Yes he did. He was very clear from the beginning that any immigration plan that he would submit would not include amnesty.

Your post is thoughtful and on target. I live in Texas...my wife and I were talking today...and both agreed the Mexicans shot themselves in the foot with their demonstrations with Mexican Flags and all of the hoopla associated with their Mexican pride. Thank God for the Internet...where do you think the so called revival of the “fairness doctrine” came from...fear of an informed electorate. With that the Democrats are DOA (dead on arrival)..

The death of this illegal immigration shamnesty bill will hopefully draw many people away from supporting the likes of Clinton and Obama. Their votes to pass this garbage of a bill to damage America and her future will not be forgotten.

Well said and I can’t disagree with you on this..Emotions have ran very high on this bill and I’m sure there are many including me, that have said things that they would not normally say about Bush and the Republican party..I do believe that we all should take a deep breath and evaluate where we are in the political process..As bad as some of the RINO’s are, we simply can’t let the Democrats gain control of the congress and the Presidency..My Mother told me that if I couldn't’t say something nice about someone then keep my mouth shut ...I sometimes forget that very good advise..
