Why,Conservative,great orator,impeccable background

..as a Keyes supporter in '96 I think I can answer

Dr. Keyes was and is one of the finest political orators of our age. He is a throwback to an earlier era when the spoken word which communicated great ideas moved mountains and changed the course of history.

On the minus side, he has a political tin ear. His inflammatory rhetoric fails to persuade and more often repels. His plan for the nation always sounded lofty and abstract--like his speeches.

William Jennings Bryan was this type of man from an earlier time--a man of the powerful spoken word--but he simply could not muster the confidence of enough of America.
