Less than three weeks after Al Gore, the environmental campaigner and former vice president, visited Istanbul to announce its participation in the round-the-world Live Aid concerts on July 7, organizers announced yesterday that the city had been dropped from the roster of nine sites because of a lack of interest coupled with security concerns in advance of general elections on July 22, Reuters reported.

I thought Al Gore's concerts were "Live Earth"?
He actually believes his own stuff.
Yep. The Times gets it wrong. Yet again.
“In South Africa, organizers seeking to stimulate lagging ticket sales moved the Live Aid concert to the 18,000-seat Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg from a site 45 minutes by car from the city, Reuters reported.”
45 minutes by car? SAVE THE PLANET FROM ALGORE’S CONCERTS!
Their crowd wants freebies - think they'd give 'em away? Noooo!
Sounds like market driven capitalism to me....
What concerts? Where? Has anybody heard about this? I sure haven’t seen any promotion for them.
How does consuming vast quantities of fossil fuel to drive to these concerts save the planet? If the GW disciples were serious about reducing their stupid footprints, the first thing to go would be all discretionary and pleasure travel.
IMHO Gore believes none of it. When he was VP, he sure did not do much for the environment. He just supports it when he feels it will do him some good.
“lack of interest” !!
poetic justice.
I was at Live Aid in 1985 and I can tell you this- algore had nothing to do with it or I probably would’ve stayed home...
Philips has been advertising on radio that they are sponsoring these concerts. I shall E-Mail them and let them know I will never buy another Philips product, since the “solutions” to “climate change” will be to steal our money and freedoms.
general elections on July 22(in Turkey)
