Senate Immigration Reform Bill Takes Step Toward the Grave

WASHINGTON The fragile immigration reform bill crafted in the Senate faces sudden death Thursday when a second vote is scheduled to shut down a filibuster.
If supporters don't get the 60 votes they need to end debate, then the bill is dead since the Senate schedule does not allow any more time to revive the legislation.
In an unusual admission, two leadership aides one Democrat, one Republican told FOX News that they have no idea how the vote will go. Vote-counting is something that is normally down to a science in the Senate chamber. The vote to end debate, called "cloture," is expected at 10:30 a.m. ET.
The mood in the Senate took a perceptible shift Wednesday as lawmakers decided not to "table," or send into permanent limbo, one of the 27 amendments approved for debate. That amendment was designed to weaken worker verification standards that are key to the measure's approach to reducing the ability of illegals to obtain work with fraudulent documents.
The Senate vote, 45-52, not to kill the amendment stops all momentum toward passage, something the White House and bipartisan Senate leadership hoped to achieve by Friday.

Why do you presume to read my mind?
Why is your political analysis so flawed.
Why do you use inflated numbers in an attempt to make a point?
What evidence do you have to support such a large number becoming citizens and then actually voting?
If you pay attention you may notice that simply by resolving my concerns with the bill it will never be signed into law.

That’s the naive mistake reid/kennedy make : that 20M mexican voters will become knee-jerk dems like the blacks. All they would do is vote themselves bigger chunks of the welfare state. Can we afford supporting 10% of mexico’s population as welfare bums? Look at how many hospitals and schools they’ve already destroyed with their mooching. When is enough ENOUGH ALREADY?

Which is why who represents the republican party as the presidential candidate is so important. We don’t need Congress to enforce the law, build the fence or supply the money. That’s all on the books right now. We just need a CIC willing to use those laws and what he can’t get Congress to pass that he doesn’t control, to give support to those in various states to create their own tough laws on this.
we can bypass Congress with a pro-border C-I-C.
right now, we just need to make sure we find one, help them win, and prevent bush & kennedy from selling us out in the interim.

I bet nobody is more relieved at this turn of events than Hillary and Obama.
Hopefully, it will still cause plenty of heartburn and lost votes for the two. If this thing dies, and nothing is done before the presidential campaign between the two nominees, it could cost the Dem heavily if their candidate supported the unpopular amnesty bill, and the Republican opposed it.
It definitely needs to be around for the presidential campaign.

LOL. I forwarded it to Tucker's show and urged them to hit Hume's show in the 6pm EST slot as just another biased liberal production and run ads against them on the web and on TV. And, you know, it's actually true. Hume's show is actually a Rockefeller Republican and neo-con internationalist love-fest, especially these last six months. Giuliani-our-savior-this, mean-bigoted-base-voters-that, well, SCREW THEM! Leftwing mayor drivel and shamnesty scamming and insults, I can do without. Let alone pay extra for it.
I think I might drop my satellite package down to the cheaper one and just watch Tucker (and Lou Dobbs) who is more conservative on any given day that Hume's bunch who just make me nauseous these days. Fred Barnes is just repulsive beyond words.
