Have been hearing all about the BAD things the CIA has done.
Any one tell me the down side of killing Castro?

My story says that JFK was unaware of the plot until less than 24 hours before the landing
Your story myst have come from the Society to Preserve the Memory of Camelot.
Kennedy knew about it and approved it only to cancel the air support at the last minute

Why did the CIA release this information, what good did they think would come out of it?
Castro is still alive, Cuba is still communist, and the CIA is releasing information about the failure of their agency and the US government in dealing with the problem.
I’m quite perplexed as to what they hoped would be accomplished by these revelations at this point in time.

Why did the CIA release this information, what good did they think would come out of it? They're probably going to somehow pin this on Cheney.

Yeah. They didn’t kill him.

On the contrary it officially ties the CIA in with Roselli and gives more credibility to all the stories of Roselli being in on the assassination of Kennedy.

Bill Clinton pulled the same stunt denying air support to rebels in Iraq at the last minute after "CIA Bob" had encouraged the attack promising them air support, as aired on 60 minutes.

I know I am out of touch but was this supposed to be a bad thing?

CIA was cooking up all this stuff without bothering to tell the PRESIDENT until the last minute? I think they must have been dipping into their own insanity drugs.

Precisely, what is the point in broadcasting their failures since all it does is bolster the communist Castro dictatorship.
The main reason the Cuban public remains languishing in a repressive commie régime is the CIA's ineptitude, or lack of will to remove Castro.

The admiral on the carrier literally broke down crying begging JFK for air support. I believe the qoute was "Please Mr. President, just give me one plane. I just need one plane."
The Cuban liberators and our armed forces had trained together for a few months. Castro was pissing in his pants several miles off shore in an armored convoy. Once he saw the Americans were not coming the slaughter began. Our boys watched in horror as the Cuban liberators were massacred.
There was no worry about the consequence of a post-Castro Cuba. Cuba was no Iraq. Until Castro came along, they surpassed most European nations in standard of living and health care. Now it's just a 3rd world crap hole.
