According to the story, he didn’t steal it, he bought it from a stranger. But I do have to admit, if a stranger offers me a nice laptop for $300, I would assume it is stolen.
There is evidence that he lied to cover up the fact that he took the computer from a supply room. I used to work in a secure office where laptop computers disappeared all the time.
The scumbag was a former prosecutor and as City Attorney he could decide who to prosecute and who to let walk. He got exactly what he deserved.
This just goes to show how corrupt the legal system is in Colorado.
