“People in the military have bad experience with military healthcare.

You had a six year enlistment and you only serve three years?

You were released from active duty for a physical disability in 1970?

Did you get 100% disabiltity pension from the government since 1970?

Many people experience terrible things. Sometimes you have to draw the line and start living.

You can’t be bogged down by the past.

Sometimes you need to talk to someone who is professional.”

Ahhhh...so you DID actually get around to reading some of what I provided you on another thread...???

Good.

~~~~~~~~~
1. “People in the military have bad experience with military healthcare.”
Please see the account of Larry Pilkinton, posted above.
~~~~~~~

2. “You had a six year enlistment and you only serve three years?”

2.5 “You were released from active duty for a physical disability in 1970?”

Yes...well, 2 years, 10 months, and 29 days to be precise.

I was discharged because I got SICK....not because I did anything “wrong”...!!!

I didn’t find out that I had in FACT been discharged for “physical disabilities” until 2002....32 years AFTER my honorable.

The REASON I didn’t know that is because until Senator Burns stepped in, I couldn’t GET my “complete” Service Personnel and Service Medical Records....and, they’re STILL spotty at best. NO ONE has any entries from the corpsmen on the ship who administered injections and “boosters” on sugar cubes...so, NONE of us know what we were innoculated with....even the officer who was the first SHAD officer on the Granville S. Hall, who came to our reunion in Seattle looking for HELP from the frikkin’ enlisted men he helped endganger....

Now, THAT is poetic justice, my friend.

As for the nature of my discharge, I was treated somewhat similar to Larry Pilkinton, but I do not see those details being necessary to reveal here and now.

Let’s just say I was INCARCERATED in Bremerton Naval Hospital for three weeks...a period of time which does NOT show up on my personnel records....and then unceremoniously discharged and handed my honorable by the Chief Medical Officer of the base.

...no explanation.

I didn’t argue.

3. Did you get 100% disabiltity pension from the government since 1970?”

NO.

I submitted my FIRST VA disability claim in 1971...which was “approved” at a 30% rating after spending 8 1/2 MONTHS straight in the Denver VA Hospital being told, “There’s nothing wrong with you...the program never happened...and, if you don’t SHUT UP, you’re facing federal prison time” etc.

So, after a couple of years, it was approved but then reduced to 0% Service Connected because I would NOT subject myself to further incarceration.

I kept my mouth shut for the following three DECADES....

Then I reheated my ‘71 claim in 2002 after the lid of secrecy had been slowly pried off in 1999-2000.

That led to several denials and then a hearing with the Veterans Board of Appeals in July, 2005....which was adjudicated in ever so swift a manner in January, 2006.

I am now 100% Service Connected Disabled for PTSD....NONE of the 28 physical items listed on my claim were addressed. I suppose you would call the current status a cease fire.

I did NOT get a nickel for the intervening 35 years except for a pittance back in ‘73-74. I’m surprised they didn’t ask for it BACK...!!!

4. “Many people experience terrible things. Sometimes you have to draw the line and start living.”

I’ll be sure to pass that on to my Infant Daughter who died in 1980 of SEVERE birth defects related to my SHAD exposures. It will no doubt be a great relief. She only lived for six days of hell on earth until I had to withdraw the life support system as she had NOT volunteered for the Navy OR Project SHAD.

~~~~~~~~~~
5. “Sometimes you need to talk to someone who is professional.”
I’ll share that with the Clinical Psychologist I see every other week due to the PTSD.
I sure wish you’d have told me that back in the ‘70s so that I could have avoided the DECADES of nightmares and sleepless nights.
~~~~~~~~~~

I was awarded disability payments by the Social Security in 2004. THAT was for a rare heart condition known as IHSS or H0CM...”cardio myopathy”....no one seems to be able to tell me WHY I have it....or the bone spurs....or the fibromyalgia...etc. etc.

I exhibit ALL the classic set of symptons of long term medical effects for low exposure to Sarin Gas.

Just a coincidence, I’m sure.

I had FIVE heart operations between May, 2002 and July, 2005.

Another coincidence.

I am now living on borrowed time with a defibrillator/pacemaker in my chest and 8 or so medications daily.

Imagine that.
