If like you say, that Mormonism is very easily refutable and illogical, then if you really believe it then it would be very easy to turn people away from it. Again, while the theology differs, the moral-political worldview of a typical Mormon is identical to the moral-political worldview a of a typical Evangelical. Discriminating against a Mormon because of his religion in the framework of our Constitutional Democracy is pure bigotry. Plain and simple.
Besides, there is ample proof in the New Testament that a follower of Jesus would support someone politically even if they differ theologically. In fact, there is an entire book in the Old Testament which is dedicated to this idea. Try reading the Book of Ezra. Do you defy the teachings of this book?
The difference is not one of theology, it is of truth versus lunacy.
LDS doctrine is so far removed from the truth that I cannot trust a person who believes it.
