This will not be a popular position but....Islam is a severe threat to life and liberty throughout the world as well as the US. No explanation required. Immigration is a challenge not a threat.

Mexican immigrants come to the US because Mexico has failed them. Mexican immigrants have been assimilating into the US for a long time. Predominantly Christian, family oriented, and hard working, Mexican can fit into the US. But there is a challenge to exclude criminals, drugs, and Islam which all require secure borders.

Some people might succumb to that but the vast silent majority of real Americans will not.
If God forbid shedevil ever gets elected, and that would be a worst case scenario, and she did nothing after a nuclear attack except go after us there would be a coup and responsible adults would take over the running of this country.
Like I said the liberal ideology would die a quick and hopefully painful death.
The msm has painted a picture of this country which is inaccurate and will have no bearing on what happens when our backs are really against the wall.

neither of these is the greatest threat to the US. The greatest threats to the US are “creeping socialism”

Very good - I've long said that both the WoT and the Mexican invasion are merely two separate fronts against our one true enemy: socialists.

While it is often pointed out that Iran uses various proxies to further its aims in the ME, it seems no one observes that Iran/Iraq are proxies for the left to defeat the West.

Likewise the physical/cultural invasion from the south; you couldn't dream up a better scenario to disable an avowed enemy by corrupting the very principles by which they are governed.

Socialists are sitting pretty right now - everything (and the march of history) is going their way. But it's a fools promise - the end-game will ultimately be played out non-PC style with them as the vanquished.

Mexican immigrants have been assimilating into the US for a long time.

I think you'd find a lot of people disagreeing with that assessment. Be that as it may, the real issue is one of Constitutional duties. That is, why is Bush allowed to pick & choose which laws are to be enforced? Why is Bush the one to determine the future ethnic makeup of our country? Why is Bush unilaterally allowed to decide which skills are most required by US industry?

Let me be clear, I'm all in favor of (legal) immigration. In fact, I have NO problem bringing in 12-20m skilled Indians, Chinese, Africans, etc to replace the 12-20m unskilled illegals that needed to be deported yesterday. That is, I don't buy into the concept that the US is supposed to be a some white Christian country.

The real issue comes down to assimilation - embracing a cohesive political system oriented towards personal freedom & responsibility. Contrary to your claim, by their sheer numbers & geographic location, Mexicans have no need (nor any past indication) to assimilate.

That's the crime - we have laws and appropriate enforcement mechanisms in place to measure & balance the country's immigration requirements for the long-term betterment of US. It is not for a single person to decide by fait accompli.

Hands down illegal immigration. Just the crime wave alone that is coming into this country not to mention all the other woes.

The guiding core of socialism is the bromide: “From each, all, according to his abilities, and to each, only according to his needs.”

This philosophy is in direct conflict with capitalistic creed which is that each individual when diligently and peacefully pursuing his own enlightened, best interests creates wealth and benefit for all.

The chief problem (among many) with socialism is that it conflicts mightily with human nature when employed outside an extended family or tribe setting. Capitalism, on the other hand, coincides wonderfully well with human nature provided that the power structure within which it operates is openly and equitably administered without bias.

Socialism’s chief draw is to those refuse to accept human nature as it is or those that presume the concept of “extended family” or “tribe” can, somehow, be stretched to fit nation-states. Both of the these false bases for world views are fed by a main-stream media that propagandizes more than it informs and a public education system that indoctrinates more than it teaches.

The solution is simple, if difficult to implement: First, slander and libel laws must be expanded to allow anyone to hold the media responsible for any non-factual reporting (obviously exceptions would exist for the expression of opinion or editorializing clearly identified as such). Second, the public education system must be held accountable for producing output that is literate, numerate, critical thinking and able to recognize and use rhetoric and grammar.

There is the prescription, now go forth and heal the nation!

I was thinking the same LD, but you said it so much better than I could have.

Until the sheeple find their brains and backbones, this county will continue it’s current demise.

Kinda off topic:
Was speaking with a guy at the gas pump this morning about gas prices. I informed him that the Feds make more on gas than the oil companies. He shot back that some oil company made $9 billion in profit last year. I replied that as of 2005, the taxes per gallon of gas in Va. was $0.37. He said that left $2.42 per gallon profit for the oil companies. I pointed out that the oil companies had to BUY the crude, refine it, and ship it (guess he thought crude was free). I also informed him that oil company profits were about 10% last year while McDonalds make about 20% profit. He gave me the ‘I don’t believe you look’. I told him to check into it for himself.

This conversation left me shaking my head. The FACT that people just lap up was is told to them by the LameStream Media scares the hell out of me. You’d think with information just a keystroke away, folks would be a bit more informed than they are.

Bush is not enforcing the law, in fact he has openly encouraged illegal immigration by that lying mantra
“ just doing jobs Americans are willing to do”

…I also informed him that oil company profits were about 10% last year while McDonalds make about 20% profit. He gave me the ‘I don’t believe you look’. I told him to check into it for himself.

Your report of this fellow’s reaction is a classic symptom of the failure of our public education system. He obviously lacks the ability to think critically or chooses not to exercise such ability.

The intricacies of macro-economics can be rather difficult. However, the basic principles are just common sense: people exchange goods and services for their mutual benefit and profit (but not every exchange is of equal value to the each of exchanging parties), people who perform value added transformations on raw materials expect to reap the benefit (profit) of those value added transformations in an exchanges with others and people invest (put their assets at risk of loss) with intent of making a profit (increasing their assets).

I would wager that if this fellow you cited were asked to work as a plumber or electrician (assuming he had the skill and abilities) he would object to being paid the same hourly compensation as an unskilled farm hand or “ditch digger.” I would further wager that if this same fellow were owner of a dry-cleaners, he would object to not making a profit from his purchase of plant, store front, chemicals, labor and assuming the risk of bankruptcy. Yet, somehow, he seems to be unable to draw the parallel to an oil company.

Such an inability is, obviously, the result of his inability to think critically. As critical thinking is a skill that is supposed to be taught in our public school system, I think we have identified at least one of the sources of his problem.

This may sound a bit Clintonian, but the answer depends on what you mean by “the U.S.”
