AGUAS CALIENTES, Peru -- Actress Cameron Diaz appears to have committed a major fashion faux pas in Peru. The voice of Princess Fiona in the animated "Shrek" films may have inadvertently offended Peruvians who suffered decades of violence from a Maoist guerrilla insurgency by touring here Friday with a bag emblazoned with one of Mao Zedong's favorite political slogans.
While explored the Inca city of Machu Picchu high in Peru's Andes, Diaz wore over her shoulder an olive green messenger bag emblazoned with a red star and the words "Serve the People" printed in Chinese on the flap, perhaps Chinese Communist leader Mao's most famous political slogan.

OK, but you still exagerated her position as most liberals do. You said that if women don’t vote for Bush than they are making Rape legal. She said, “If you don’t vote, than rape could be made legal.” Why did you lie?
Actually I am not the original poster—I just located the Diaz quote that was (probably) being alluded to....
Does ANYONE really ever expect ANYTHING but faux pas, social blunders and stupidity from these Hollywood assholes?
I mean really?
The Diaz comment made the inference that rape would be made legal IF you did not vote against GWB. In the context of the whole episode, their positions were very clear.
There was a bit of press coverage of that Oprah episode at the time and much discussion on Free Republic. It was a leftist kaffeeklatch on par with The View. Those women should have been embarrassed to speak their crap in public, but they believed themselves to be very eloquent.
PC crowd? Have you read many of the responses to this thread?
I said that, and that is the clear implication of this ditz’ remarks,
Evidently, in Peru at least, it is not considered cool to express sympathy for the nation’s murderous enemies.
Yet, she's quite vocal in her political opinions...
She needs to spend a year in her ancestral homeland of Cuba, then she’ll be singing a whole different tune.
Of course she is a dimwit. It's on a par with wearing a swastika because it looked so good on Edward Norton in American History X.
This is not new. My aunt taught at an all black school in New Jersey (Plainfield). The day after Ronald Reagan was elected in 1980, kids were coming to school crying because they believed that Reagan would reimpose slavery.
Apparently their "leaders" in the Democratic party were spreading those rumors in the weeks leading up to the election in an effort to increase voter turnout.
welcome back!!!!
