Magazines from domestic terrorism threat found ...
Ronald Swerlein kept magazines in his home from the Animal Liberation Front, a group the FBI calls a leading domestic terrorism threat, ...
Police first searched the 50-year-olds home over the weekend and arrested him Sunday on suspicion of possessing and making explosives.
According to a search warrant inventory, police seized four magazines from the Animal Liberation Front from Swerleins home. The warrant requesting the search said the magazines describe arsons and use of explosives claimed by members of the group, who typically remain anonymous.
The groups Web site states that individuals work on their own or with small cells of people to reduce animal suffering through direct actions. The site adds that many of these actions are illegal under a current societal structure that fails to recognize the rights of non-human animals to live free of suffering.
Police also seized homemade nitroglycerin, highly unstable sodium azide, PETN and MEKP, a volatile chemical that had been stabilized and hidden in the basement.
Police also took a handwritten to-do list and a warning note, although investigators would not discuss the contents of either.
Police had been looking for an amateur bombmaker who has left dozens of tiny explosive devices in the Longmont Clinic parking lot and in the surrounding neighborhood.

Swerlein will be formally charged Friday, possibly for possession of explosive devices after authorities removed more than 400 chemicals from his Longmont home over the weekend.
Boulder County Deputy District Attorney Katharina Booth raised questions about whether Swerlein was just an eccentric backyard scientist or a danger to the community.
In his home, Swerlein had a pound of sodium azide - a material so dangerous that 5 grams caused an explosion that damaged a University of Colorado lab...
In addition to the chemicals, Booth said authorities found books with titles such as Don’t Get Mad, Get Even; Your Revenge is in the Mail, and Home-made Explosives.

Thanks for the ping, George.
This guy sounds like a genuine nutcase. Some of the stuff he had tucked away in his basement is bad stuff. They probably kept him from blowing himself up by busting him.
I’m kinda surprised they let him out on bail, don’t blame the neighbors for being nervous. lol
I live about 8 blocks away from this guy. I used to wonder why someone was setting off fireworks late at night. Now I know.
He seems more dangerous than the average ALF guy with his scientific training.
His books and chemicals should have convinced the judge to hold him.
Maybe another liberal judge ?

During the Clintoon raping and pillaging of America, their bull dyke Lesbo AG, Jake Reno refused to investigate these terrorists. She was more interested in wiping out and killing Christians with guns and sending a little Cuban refugee back to Cuba.
Those good old days will return if $inator Hildebea$t gets elected in 2008.
The only reason I can see for this terrorist to be walking around is to follow him and monitor him to expose others like him.
One can only imagine if this terrorist had been a member of the so called White Hate Groups where he would be now.
Gee, I wonder if the Timothy McVeigh poster and EarthFirst! t-shirts were a tip off...???
“One can only imagine if this terrorist had been a member of the so called White Hate Groups where he would be now.”
ELF & ALF ARE “white hate groups”....!!!
It's looking like the latter, isn't it? Sure is a good thing this guy was smart on the science but dumb on his terrorist tradecraft.
if $inator Hildebea$t gets elected in 2008 we will see lots of these nuts pop up.
But he did it to save the earth...

Apparently the neighbors have been complaining to the Longmont police since last summer ?
Is Longmont a mecca/haven for Green Eco Terrorists and Alf/Elfs?
It is north of Boulder thus cheaper.
Boulder is the eco terror center. No telling when he flipped or why.
All I want is for someones pitbull to get into the coke dish at a PETA convention.
