My main question is: where is his team? Where will he get a good Secretary of Defense, a reliable Attorney General? What will his Chief of Staff be like?

You are not just voting for him, you are voting for the people he knows and could bring into an administration.

Well you have look at the man to decide who is team is going to be.
If FRed was a jerk, a windbag or flighty, or had a past of insubstantiality, or other weakness, you could get a decent snapshot of what his crew would be like.
People surround themselves with folks that they are comfortable with; with people of similar mien and ideological inclination. Of temper and philosophy.

Happily we have a FRed that is calm, thoughtful, competent and confidence inspiring, who (if you look at his website I’mwithfred.com)has addressed almost every major issue facing this nation clearly and without sham or artifice.
That lets you know he will select a team, a crew that can and will do the job, and do it competently.
It is early days and no announced candidate has offered up their team, except for La Clinton who by implication and inference will use all of the failed bureaucrats her corrupt husband has used in the past.

So if I were you, I would not hesitate to support FRed as a candidate who will select a cool, no frills, get it done staff that will to a job of work, without all of the BS.

Holy Cow, man, it is 16 months before the election.

Get a grip.

Any info on who will fill those positions for Mitt or Rudy or McCain or Hunter or Clinton or Obama or Edwards? Or is this just a rule you apply to Thompson?

I hope that Fred looks at Ambassador John Bolton as either a running mate or Secretary of State. Rep. Tom Tancredo looks good for Homeland Security and possibly Rep. Duncan Hunter as Secretary of Defense, with Senator John McCain as ambassador to Mexico....LOL

My main question is: where is his team?

Uh, who are you supporting? And what 'team has he picked (assuming you mean proposed cabinet officials, etc.)?

There are announcements every week of someone joining the Fred Thompson exploratory team, or helping to set up an organization. Just read the articles on FR. They're all over.

Your talking about "shadow cabinets" or "shadow government" (its just a phrase, it does not mean anything negative). The concept is more common in parlimentary democracies, though I have always wished to see it brought to the US in terms of campaigns.

Though the possibility is slim, it allows a candidate to many targets to hit and to many vulnerablities to attack. I.E. run mud slinging campaigns on everybody to drag down the initial candidate.

Where is his team? Good question. The media seems to like him.

The election is just short of a year and a half away.

Most of the early birds are choking on their worms.

Give it some time.

Maybe some time after he announces he is running he will start giving out the information.

Things change so much in this day and age in a short period of time.

If any of the other candidates are naming their cabinet at this time, I would ponder whether or not those people will even be in politics when the race for President actually starts.

Thompson may just be an ex-senator and an actor, but he seems pretty smart. He hasn't squandered any time in senseless debates as many other johnny-come-earlys have
