There is a big difference between Trent Lott and Robert Byrd. Robert Byrd doesn’t back down or bow to the Gods of PC, betray his base, or support amnesty. I used to laugh about Byrd, but no more - he stopped an attempt for amnesty several years ago and is more conservative on immigration than Kyl, McCain or Lott.

Byrd has earned some respect. Maybe the people of West Virginia weren’t so wrong to keep him around. At least he doesn’t try to sell away their citizenship for $5000.

I've noticed how Sheets the Wizard makes a good ally on this issue.
